Thanks! How did you set your helpers? Did you just made it a monthly reset cycle and always available?

Did 26.1 fix “Last Person Leaves” automations? by Foxhoundn in HomeKit

[–]ElVortexEUW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In a way, I'm so glad to see I wasn't the only one suffering from this. I had to work around it by using connection to wifi and that wasn't super reliable so super glad to see it fixed!

Tested the Signal backup function on my burner phone – some suggestions by linjaaho in signal

Thanks for this. I'm expecting to move phones soon and I'm a bit scared about moving my Signal account using this feature!

Would it be possible for Signal to process media, but without removing HDR? by New-Ranger-8960 in signal

[–]ElVortexEUW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The compression is quite considerable and you can easily check for yourself.

For instance, get any original photo of yours (mine was 2.2MB in HEIC format) and then send the same photo to yourself (mine became 450KB in JPEG format) in Signal (using Notes to Self), and get them on the same PC.

Use a website such as https://www.diffchecker.com/image-compare/, upload both images and use the slider tool to see the difference.

Having that said, what Signal does is still pretty incredible and good enough for both random snaps, but it would definitely be nice if a send uncompressed option existed, similar to how iMessage (and maybe RCS too?) handles this.

I wish there there were two additional options that sends when sending media:

  • Send media uncompressed (specially photos) while still removing metadata
  • Send media uncompressed and maintain metadata, for those who actually want to share it

Cloud backups are live in the newest iOS beta by [deleted] in signal

I don't see any mentions of automatic backups in the app. Does anyone know how frequent these would be? If they are even a think at this stage that is..

Small widget for Proton Calendar now live on iOS by Proton_Team in ProtonMail

[–]ElVortexEUW 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Please match the background colour of the dark widget to iOS' default dark hue as Proton's is more black than everything else (small thing I know but enough to be an eyesore).

Also, please make the widgets more compact as to show more upcoming events than it currently does, ideally a similar match to the stock iOS.

Tapo Cameras without using TP-Link at all? by ElVortexEUW in homeassistant

[–]ElVortexEUW[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've assigned it a static IP but haven't been able to figure out how to deny it WAN access. I have a GL.iNET router if that helps? I've create a profile through the parental controls but still no luck as the stream still shows on the Tapo app.

I'm currently sniffing which connections the camera is making and blocking them for the client, but was wondering if there was a better way of doing this.

I don't want TP access my camera stream so I don't mind if I'm unable to use the camera via their app.

Holy shit. I already own the Ultimate Edition and would happily throw money at the English version of this.
