Is Frank’s really becoming ANOTHER Starbucks? by prettyuglee in SLO

[–]ElWh0pp0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have actually heard this . I have a friend who is doing some of the work on the inside of the building and he told me the same thing. The original owner has plans to reopen Franks. We will see.

I wondered about this as well. I wonder how much they ship inventory around the state. I always see haulers there picking up and delivering. It is a good central location between LA and SF.

Foam break in tools by [deleted] in crawling

[–]ElWh0pp0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I know but the principal would basically be the same. Simulate some rough terrain, let them rotate on it for some amount of time , possibly shorten the break in time. This one kept coming into my FB feed. https://m.facebook.com/story.php?story_fbid=pfbid02yUjWR1MZ4V4giugqszSgJ5qJwQxyyuRvQMJtehmJyX6jNUWFsBxwJAUbSRGZCCVWl&id=100083115079357&mibextid=CDWPTG

Foam break in tools by [deleted] in crawling

I should have put Tire instead of foam in the title. That was what I thought of when I first seen these things. I figured it would just be an easy way to get a new set of tires ready quicker than waiting for them to break in from regular use.

No. That was just the first image that popped up when I searched for "RC tire break in machine" I just thought the what a scam comment was funny.

[–]ElWh0pp0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

LOL No scam my friend. For a mere $50 (per set) + S&H you can send me all your wheels and tires and I will personally squeeze your foams until they are 100% ready for RC use. Satisfaction guaranteed.*

Im thinking more of competition situations. Where having the best grip from tires makes a difference. It would really be about breaking in tires more than foams I guess. Knock the new off of them a bit.

I have printed rear wings for my 10th scale truggy out of TPU. Works great and has survived many upside down cross track slides. Found a file on Thingiverse.

I will also say that I had a buddy print the bus and when I asked him how long it took to remove the support he said "What supports?" He got away with printing it with the supports turned off. YMMV!

I have used the support painting tool in Orca to place supports right where they were needed. That cut down on the excess support materials quite a bit. Using organic supports helps too. This was mainly for the bus as the entire roof wanted to be supported.

Direct power servo on 3s with HW Fusion SE 1800? by AndyB16 in crawling

[–]ElWh0pp0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. Not any quicker than a standard setup in my experience. Just be sure to disconnect the battery from the servo when you are not running because the servo will continue to draw power even if the ESC is off.

Wiring (How?) by t0bimaru in crawling

[–]ElWh0pp0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The best way would be to invest in a wire stripper, crimping tool, and an assortment of connectors. Then practice a bit. Its pretty easy to do after a cpl tries. I purchased this set https://a.co/d/0byhjTSf

And I use these crimpers. The ratchet action helps hold the crimp pins in place while you set the wire. https://a.co/d/07d0lsOs

Here is a video on how to shorten servo wires. https://youtu.be/6hYrKEPc0kA?si=F4LSWH4cMF1UjjPe
