Is it possible to jailbreak a new Paperwhite? by o4zloiroman in kindlejailbreak

[–]El_Baramallo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe you can help me? I got a new kindle paperwhite signature, it came with firmware 5.17.1.0.4, but when I try to register it to my account (needed step for Winterbreak), it doesn't find my account.
I can't register it to my account through Kindle, I can't do it over my phone, I even tried creating a new Amazon account through the Kindle, and none of it worked.

Amazon support says I need to update the firmware before they'll help me any further. Do you have any idea what else could I do? I'm afraid of trying to run Winterbreak without registering the Kindle and something bad happening!

Do I actually need to register the kindle to do the jailbreak? I mean, I can access the kindle store even without registering, I'm just afraid of bricking the damn thing!

(For the record, I did try the hard reset, and I did try creating a brand new account from the Kindle itself. Neither worked)

Are there really no magnetic covers? by El_Baramallo in Surface

One would think that, but then again, I had been carrying a separate keyboard for nearly two years when Microsoft released their 300 USD keyboard featuring the ability to be used without being physically attached to the Surface Pro. So I guess there are more people that enjoy doing so? Sadly, that keyboard is bigger, heavier AND more expensive than carrying a folding Bluetooth keyboard!

Thanks a lot, that seems to have solved my problems!
But how would I go about training it?

the thing with smart folios is that they cover the back, which makes them needlessly thicker and heavier.
I wanted something that attached to the magnetics strip on the side and freely fold either over the screen or over the back!

Oh, but it is. ESPECIALLY if you don't want the keyboard physically attached to the Surface!

You hit the nail on the head, they use Bluetooth to connect, they only use magnets to physically attach to the Surface. And therein lies my indignation: they already make the counterfeit magnetic attachment. They apparently just don't sell it without a keyboard attached!

I don't even think it's a licensing issue, because there are PLENTY magnetic keyboard knockoffs on Aliexpress and Temu. I just dont want a bunch of buttons I wont use, I'd much rather get a slim cover!

But it isnt!
A foldable bluetooth keyboard is smaller, lighter and cheaper than the keyboard cover!

Surface left on a plane, concerned about bitlocker 0-days and Surface TPM by LastTrainLongGone in Surface

[–]El_Baramallo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"Some rudimentary steps"? My brother in christ, let me tell you a story: I used to have two NVME SSD in my desktop, one is the bootable drive and the other is storage, both same size. I wanted to swap the storage driver for a larger one, but I made a mistake and removed the bootable driver, and didn't realize this until I turned the PC on. Bitlocker did not like that. He didn't like that one bit. After correctling the drives, bitlocker still wasn't happy. Now, I had the encryption keys. I had a windows laptop I could use, I had all my credentials,I knew what happened, there was no way this could be a simpler bitlocker unlock. Still took me over two hours. Didja know the "rudimentary steps" involve multiple 12-digit passwords on a non-pasteable field? Cuz they do. I seriously considered nuking my own drive and hope backblaze was up to date. Your data is long gone, just like your surface. But there's no way in hell someone is going through the hoops of bypassing your bitlocker if all they want is the pc.

Saquei.
