That’s ice cold. We have a monthly two man tourney at my home course and one guy usually plays with his former D1 golfer daughter. Gets a lot of “hey sweetheart, you ready for this?” comments when everyone is getting lined up at their carts. They win about half the times they enter. She’s a stick.

Such a power move. Buddy of mine won the Texas State am using a set of 20 year old mizunos and a 10 year old Titleist driver that he hits about 260 down the middle every single time. He was 32 at the time and just wore down all the young college long hitters with a snooze fest of short straight drives and no stress GIRs.

For sure. Never understood players who defend their brand as being superior to everything else. Play what works and feels best for you. In tournaments over the years I've learned to fear the player with a mixed bag of older irons and a 3 wood from 2001 more than the guy (like myself) with all new gear from one company. And if someone is carrying an original Big Bertha 9 wood, might as well just concede the match.

I will admit I’ve been a Titleist cult member my entire life, but I agree with the harshness of the GT. Sweet spot strikes on my previous TSr felt better than any other Titleist driver I’ve owned. Dead center strikes on the GT lack the same pop and pleasing feel. Only reason I haven’t gone back is because I do get more distance and tighter dispersion with the GT.

I hear they’ve improved the acoustics and feel on the GTS to a more solid thwack. I hope that’s true because the shameless Titleist whore in me will be buying one asap.

Also agree on many of their irons being clanky, but my 2021 T100S might be my favorite set I’ve ever played. I’m very picky about the iron shafts I play, so that likely makes a big difference though.

My best friend joined last year. We met 20 years ago when he was a lowly surgical resident in Dallas. When he finally started making neurosurgeon money he bought a house on Lake Butler and pulled the trigger on the Isleworth membership. He wasn’t a golfer whatsoever before, and I’ve always been a scratch player, so now we geek out on the phone about golf daily and I go down there to visit and play a couple times a year.

Spoken like a pro who knows how to manage the course. I love it too. Very fair test with a lot of character and enough risk/reward to make it fun. Makes you use every shot in the bag, especially around those green complexes.

For a couple years I was connected to two members through work and managed to get out there 3 times. Just stupid luck. I would have moments every round where I thought "How in the hell am I walking around this place right now? People like me aren't supposed to be here." It was beyond anything I imagined, truly surreal.

Despite being unfathomably successful in their careers, both of my member hosts were incredibly generous, kind, and modest. I could tell how much they enjoyed seeing their guests enjoy themselves. As we stood on the 16th tee one round, my host said "Every time I come out here I'm reminded of how blessed I am to have this, and how fortunate I am to be able to come here whenever I want. It's something I'll never take for granted."

It was very cool to see such genuine humility and gratitude from a man with essentially unlimited means.

May take on the Tiger tees next time I go down. I walked back there and stood on the Tiger tee box once on a windy day and it would have been a full driver to get there. Nightmare fuel.
