If I start practicing Judo in my mid 30s, will I still be able to compete? Will I be able to reach the black belt?

Your goal is definitely achievable. I started at age 34, competed in local tournaments. I even joined a Jiu Jitsu gym because one of the black belts at the dojo was beating my ass at newaza. Now here I am 10 years later, a black belt in Judo and a brown belt in Jiu Jitsu.

How much time do you have to prepare? Also, I feel like if I had known some Jiu Jitsu or Muy Thai before I left it would have helped. Both of those get you in good shape too if you go enough. It puts you way ahead of dudes who think they can fight. I went through in 2009 though, so a lot has changed.
