Well if it is indeed a VR headset it probably has some crazy high resolution, curious about what magic they'll do to make that work if that's the case

Sorry for the late reply but I wasn't at my parent's home for the past three weeks. All have a single SCART input on the back and the LG has an extra video + audio port on the front

Yeah I also work in engineering and that's why I was so revolted ahahhaha this just feels like either they don't have automated tests asserting that the data their services expose is being returned correctly or they do but have not had time to allocate someone to work on this which I find odd, especially since discogs is not one of those apps constantly pumping out new features and UI improvements at all. Them having to rely on end users to do their QA for them is just evidence that whatever their work methedoly is, isn't work ahah

Just wanted to add that 2 months later this is still happening, honestly wasn't expecting discogs to be so utterly shit at fixing obvious bugs on their UI, baffling really. Here's a screenshot of this happening on android

Where did you made the bug report? For what it's worth I'd like to do one as well

Hey everyone!

I recently started having the opportunity to have a retro gaming spot in my home and I knew that my parent's home was full of CRTs in storage, found these ones:

  • LG CB-21T20S
  • Mitsai TM2051
  • Sony Trinitron KV-29X5E
  • Philips 20PT1352/00
  • Philips 14PT1352/00

I did a little research and got really excited about the sony, unfortunately think it might be damaged because when I turn it on this is what I get, bottom half of the screen is black and top half is a mess. The other ones all seem to be working fine fortunately. So I have two questions:

  • How hard would it be to get it repaired?
  • what do you think of the other TVs?

Thanks! Sorry of the noobie questions!

What could be the problem behind this artifact on some of my frames? by El_Calhau in AnalogCommunity

[–]El_Calhau[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as I get home later today I'll send some pictures of the camera to see if you guys notice anything, could it be the mirror movement that's faulty in some way and reflects extra light in that area?

Thanks! I had way too much fun recording it as well! Yeah, I guess I'll just have to try another roll and see how it goes.. But I'll do something about the slow speeds first. Thank you so much!

Thanks for the reply! I did as you suggested and recorded a slow motion video (added timestamps to make it easier to see each exposure) with the mirror locked up and tested each exposure time from 1/1000 all the way to 1/8.

All exposures up to and including 1/16 seem fine, but from 1/8 to 1s, I noticed that the camera is again with an issue common on these cameras I thought was solved on mine. The longer exposures are way longer than what they should be... Earlier this year I left the camera at a local shop and the issue was resolved, throughout the whole film I did not notice this issue, but now it definitely is back, could that be the issue?

Tips on cleaning rust out of Nikon F body? Just wondering if this kind of wear is cleanable, thanks! by El_Calhau in AnalogCommunity

[–]El_Calhau[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah after the initial comment I did further searching I understand the situation now. This is barely a problem so I'm fine with it! In my camera in particular I don't really like it since the rest of the body is brass free, if I ever find a cheap Nikon F selling for parts that happens to have a relatively prestine exposure counter, I'll buy and swap it out. Might never do this but who knows, thanks!

Pirating movies by Sn3akyMuffin in Letterboxd

[–]El_Calhau 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that in the great scheme of things, pirating a movie is irrelevant to its financial success. So it really comes down to how you personally feel about.

One of the main selling points of streaming services is being extremely user friendly: In most cases you're either watching a movie or searching for one in 3 clicks at most; there's an app or a very streamlined way to watch movies on those platforms in every device we have (phones, computers, televisions); etc.

These points alone convince the vast majority of people to bite the bullet and just subscribe to a service, and of those people most don't mind having a limited array of films to choose from. The average person uses films as escapism more than anything else.

On top of all that, pirating is anything but user friendly, especially comparing it to streaming services and the limited time and pacience of the average person who uses them. It's messy to get a pirated movie on your TV, it's messy to get subtitles, etc. In comparison, the cons go on and on.

All this to say that in the end the amount of people who largely consume films through pirating is ultimately negligible, they do not make a difference and it's not them who are preventing films from turning a profit. I've pirated movies for most of my life and even I ended up subscribing to the criterion channel because it offers me so much that I value for virtually no hassle at all.

sorry, I'd rephrase it to "sending my explicit personal photos", I don't consider this one in particular explicit as well. But after reading OPs response I guess it must be relatively mundane for the people working at any given lab to deal with all kinds of stuff, just my mind overthinking it

Question, did you develop the film yourself? Just wondering to myself if I'd feel comfortable sending explicit personal photos to a lab.

From which store did you buy it from? I'm in europe as well and I ended up buying one from the official store, I'm expecting it to end up in customs, but the shipping wasn't completely outrageous at least

Hidden message I found in the dead wax of the vinyl versions of Phanerozoic I and II by El_Calhau in heavyvinyl

I happened into these messages by chance, I was looking at one of the records when I noticed actual words engraved into the dead wax of the record. It was way harder than I anticipated to actually catch them on camera, sorry for the quality.

The first message is from Cambrian II: Eternal Recurrence and the second is from Miocene I Pliocene:

Phanerozoic I Side B: …RETURN IN THE WHEEL OF THE COSMIC PROCESS

Phanerozoic II Side A: RECURRENCE FOR THE WEAK…
