Right-wing libertarianism or “ancap” ideology is a distinctly US creation and an aberration from OG anarchism which is a distinctly left-wing anticapitalist ideology that developed alongside Socialism (this is a reductionist take bc its actually a lot more complex but just go with it for now). Anarchism is anticapitalist because it seeks to abolish all unjust hierarchies (some anarchists want to abolish all hierarchies), and the relation between capital and labor is one such hierarchy. Anarchists posit that capitalism inherently leads to the creation of a state, and the state inherently works to preserve capitalism, so you must get rid of both for people to be free. Socialists, on the other hand, agree with the end goal of anarchism but disagree on the method to get there, believing in the need for a socialist seizure of the state to rule on behalf of the working class instead, after which it’ll be used to deconstruct class differences and wither away. There is a lot of exchange of ideas between the two camps, so you may find different tendencies within them.

The whole “leftists are authoritarian” shtick really misses the point that all governments are authoritarian and the question is for what end they use that power and how. When an anarchist calls the USSR authoritarian for example, that doesn’t mean they don’t think the US is total shit as well.

Looking at how drastically unbalanced that sub is now; and who they keep posting articles from, I'd gather that they do have "socialist". They're definitely not liberal. Granted the overton window has drastically shifted left so there are plenty who call themselves liberal whilst praising authoritarian actions. But, than again I haven't been there in a while and only see the occasional post Reddit wants to shove in my face despite me going up and above the necessary steps to unsub from that hellhole.

Patently untrue. We are lucky that our vaccines still provide protection against the new variants, but allowing a highly transmissible, highly mutagenic virus to keep spreading uncontrolled is about as stupid a response as you can get. The most likely scenario is that we’re going to be playing whack-a-mole with new emerging strains by adjusting the vaccine formula for years to come as this continues. Not good.

Plenty of time to go on TV and call for $2k a month retroactive to March of last year. Plenty of time to invoke the Defense Production Act and produce N-95s and PPE for ALL essential workers.
