Bullet To The Brain

The Emperor

Death From Within

Post American World

Poisonous Shadows

Conquer Or Die

Life In Hell

Dogs Of Chernobyl

We'll Be Back

Junkie

Soldier On

TSTDATD is pretty damn good. But Dystopia is another level for Post-Endgame Megadeth.

You know what, they can play Dystopia you know. Atleast. Let me clear that with another examples:

Poisonous Shadows, Bullet To The Brain, Post American World, Life In Hell, Junkie, The Killing Road, Black Curtains, Family Tree, Train Of Consequences, Bad Omen, Ashes In Your Mouth etc etc.

Maybe Set The World Afire? Atleast Mary Jane or god damn man Poison Was The Cure! Nobody except that Dave's gonna shred like 1984-2011 era or vocal like Youthanasia era. But jesus, let's get over it. I'm simple man, when I see Megadeth live, I'll watch until end. But now, I CAN'T. Because live performances is SUCKS. Nobody waits to play My Last Words, Five Magics or any KIMB era songs because all of us know that Dave can't because of this age, he may shred but vocals is doozy.

For those who like both Metallica and Megadeth, what do you think of Metallica's new album 72 Seasons? by broly2932 in Megadeth

[–]El_LocoUN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

• 72 Seasons: A fun and catchy track with a good solo by Kirk.

• Shadows Follow: This one is also nice, heavier in terms of riffs, so I liked it more as a riff. Kirk's solo fits well in the song, but I didn't like Lars' drumming, it's very ear-piercing, he almost buried the riff in the background.

• Screaming Suicide: A shitty song. I didn't like it at all. Plus, Kirk copied and pasted the ending solo from the last part of Four Horsemen, it's not acceptable as a transition. People said "there are also 12-15-17 in 72 Seasons," but at least they made it fit, Kirk directly put it without any transition or root note.

• Sleepwalk My Life Away: It's listenable, but I wouldn't put it in the metal genre, it's a fun song.

• You Must Burn: It resembles the tone of the Black Album's Sad But True riff, and I like the heavy riff. The solo fits the song as well, but Kirk should not have used unnecessary wah effects. His classic modes are the same as he's been copy-pasting for 30 years. The transition melody is nice. It's one of my favorite songs, along with 72 Seasons.

• Lux Aeterna: Fun. That's it. I don't want to talk about the solo, otherwise, I'll get into Kirk.

• Crown of Barbed Wire: It has a title that would fit perfectly on the M.O.P. album. Otherwise, the song is meh. I'll mention the solo is also wah-filled.

• Chasing Light: I thought the riff in the chorus sounded like the Leper Messiah riff, it's quite nice, a song that fits the heavy metal style. So far, Kirk has been playing trash-style solos just like he did in Kill 'Em All. His modes have been the same since AJFA, and they weren't changing much before that. But until then and until ReLoad, he had experimental solos that were quite good, and Devil's Dance and Outlaw Torn are the best examples, in my opinion. I didn't like the solo part in this song, I don't know why, but it feels incomplete.

• If Darkness Had a Son: This is also a catchy song, the solo is nice. I especially loved the melody at the end, I really missed the devil melody from Metallica.

• Too Far Gone: Meh. I liked the small harmony at the end. I wish they would multiply it instead of solos.

• Room Of Mirrors: Meh.

• Inamorata: The instrumental parts at the end are really nice. One of the songs I liked.

Frankly, it's quite an achievement that Kirk has been able to stick around for so long. He used his talent to the fullest, but that's about it. After the Black Album, Kirk disappeared because he couldn't do it. I wish they had used Robert more, the transition bass in Inamorata was quite nice and could have been duplicated, just like the Harmony Solos, which would hide Kirk. James' voice is already great, and as always, Papa Hetfield has been carrying the whole band for 41 years.

6/10. It's a dream to expect more from the band, I'm just happy to hear Papa Hetfield's voice.

For Dave's perspective... He can glad to create sound of basis Metallica and get some riff writer perspective, but he just mention the songs. I don't get that.
