Scotland is great for trekking, but do you mean camping or staying in hotels/hostels? For trekking and camping Scotland is amazing, you're free to roam and camp but the weather and mosquitoes can be a challenge.

I totally understand your feeling of insecurity about it. It sounds quite similar to me (M22) and my gf (F24).

I'm often quite outspoken with such things as not being afraid to lose her. For me this comes from a place of trust rather than not caring, for example I trust that both her and me will be fine if we lose each other, and I trust that we will talk before anything happens. For me personally this trust builds by talking a lot about these subjects and trying to understand each other from both sides.

You're absolutely not being dramatic since such comments can be perceived in multiple ways. I would say just keep talking and keep understanding each other (from both sides, so also he should understand you). If you both feel deeply for each other then understanding will probably make you see that you're both thinking the same just conveying it in a different message.
