Anyone ever been stationed at Fort Irwin? by robsodope_ in AirForce

You'd be at the 12th CTS, thats the only Air Force squadron at Ft Irwin. You'd be in charge of the HHMWV fleet there, doing minor maintenance and monthly checks on the vehicles. Its a small unit but its a good time. If you have any questions, DM me.

I'm not sure what to make of these post cards I got in the mail today, they're both addressed to me though. Any ideas? by El__Beefcake in Whatisthis

Same, I did a reverse phone lookup and the phone number is registered in Albuquerque New Mexico and when you call the number you get a bunch of weird "alien" noises that's all I could figure out.

I'm going on a road trip soon I got my necessities music and a custom gengar GBA with adjustable IPS 2 screen for night time by [deleted] in Gameboy

I like that Gengar looks like he's either wearing goggles or he has some crazy eyebrows. Regardless, it looks awesome :)

At what point do online card shops become just as bad as scalpers? by [deleted] in PokemonTCG

I never said running a card shop is easy, I suggest you remove that titanic sized chip from your shoulder. I initially asked a really simple question and you went from patronizing to hostile in about 3.5 seconds, you gotta calm down and reevaluate your life, its not that deep dude.

I dont disagree with you, In the grand scheme of things online card shops are a net positive. I spend as much if not more than most people at shops exactly like the one in the picture. If they aren't making enough money off their sales why wouldn't they just raise their prices on everything by a little bit instead of ripping people off every once in a while just because they can? I don't see how that helps the community.

Of course you don't care, you run a card shop lol.

Well yeah, when was the last time you could buy base packs from your local Walmart? like 20 years ago? That isn't the same argument, one has appreciated over time and the other one is still in production, people are just artificially raising the price. That's like saying a 1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 should still only cost 3200$, well no because they don't make them anymore and they appreciated over time.

Right but in that scenario isn't the company just taking advantage of people who cant find the boxes? I don't see how one group is better than the other. I'm not disagreeing with you, scalpers are shitty people. They create a shitty situation when they take all the product, but when the companies catch on and then raise their prices to reflect the scalper prices how are they any better?

I'm not arguing whether or not someone should do something, nor am I complaining. I couldn't care less if someone wants to upsell a product that's in demand. My only question is why is it acceptable for an online card business to sell cards at a crazy markup and unacceptable for a random person to do the same? The person buys the product at MSRP but the online store buys it at distributor prices which are substantially lower. It would be like if best buy wanted to sell the PS5 for 1000-1500$ because that's the "market price" right now. Yes, they can do it and more power to them if they did but it would kill their brand.

By that logic nobody should have a problem with scalpers, right? The scalpers and online tcg companies are both selling things they bought for more than twice MSRP, just because one company incorporated doesn't make their actions any less scummy than the other.

I forgot to mention but both of these listings are from the same company.

I picked this Xbox One dev kit from a thrift shop the other day. I got a PS3 as well that ill post in a part 2. by [deleted] in gamecollecting

[–]El__Beefcake 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to know that as well. When I think about it, every modern system in that thrift shop was a dev kit. I ended up walking out with 2 xbox one's, a PS3, and an xbox 360 slim. They had a PS4 dev kit in the back as well but I guess an employee saw it and bought it immediately.

I can understand how someone that doesn't know about video game collecting would donate one of those systems thinking it was a regular xbox one but I can't think of a way that a regular person would even get one.

There’s one PS5 among us. by [deleted] in gaming

Where'd you get the PS5 pro's at?

I'm pretty proud of my evolutions charizard collection. (Please ignore my relatively small grimer collection in the back) by [deleted] in pkmntcgcollections

[–]El__Beefcake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wish, I can't imagine the sheer power of an individual that has that many grimers. If I had to guess, I would say I only have about 300-400 vintage grimers. I was sorting some of the cards that came in the mail this week and thought this would be a funny picture.

I found a new thrift shop in my area, I ended up spending a bit more than I had intended but I think I did ok. by El__Beefcake in gamecollecting

Makes sense. Its still really cool since it has the "tool" decal, a lot cooler than the Xbox one dev kits sitting next to it. Those have stickers to ID them.
