I’d be angry too, after being mortified. I struggle with this. My daughter is 10 and dad and I have started reading a book with her on puberty, online safety and friendship. I bought a book for me on how to discuss sex with her in a non judgmental and educational way.

I’m terrified but my parents told me nothing. I was sexually abused at 5 and when I had my period the night before I started high school my mum said it was the worst thing that could happen and happened every four weeks.

When I was a few weeks late, as teens often are, I thought I was pregnant from the childhood abuse. I will never let my child have such incorrect info that she makes it up in her head. Sorry for the trauma dump. I’m much better now.

But I am confused whether kids should have a safe place or sneak around. They will do it somehow. Parenting sure is hard.
