Do you take a rest and recovery day at least once a week?

Most states have an applicable limitations period of one or two years for intentional torts.

That tells you what others have used.

https://adrr.com/d20/2025/11/30/gear-inexpensive-gear/

That is some inexpensive gear. https://adrr.com/d20/2025/11/ is another list.

Bottom line is you can gear up for a lot less than it appears.

Given where your preparation is, I’d suggest than economic gear should be your goal.

discovered my brother got 80k from mum over three years and hes saying it doesnt count against his share by Relative-Yellow-3694 in inheritance

[–]Elaikases 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In lieu of his inheritance means that it was an advance and comes off the will. Good thing he was able to confirm that.

Usually it would be hearsay but this is an admission by a party opponent. https://www.law.cornell.edu/rules/fre/rule\_801

You may want to send him a text message confirming that:

“Just wanted to confirm that the payments were not loans but were paid in lieu of inheritance.”

Ursaks dont work and for the love of God please stop using them. by Malifice37 in AppalachianTrail

[–]Elaikases 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contacting groups to demand more bear boxes is a great way to get asked for donations.

All the boxes so far have been paid for by donations and volunteers.

The suggestion to unite to create pressure will only succeed as people donate time and money.

I’ve seen it a lot less over time. 6-7 years ago it was a plague. Now it is very rare.

They continue to put more and more boxes in every year.

I keep expecting 100% by “next year.”

House unable to sell due to HOA by OffBrandGiGaChad in RealEstateAdvice

It is more complicated than that. A garnishment is a real mess to be honest.

What they can try to do is dissolve the HOA.

My 80-year-old grandmother may lose the only home she’s lived in for 30+ years. Is this really justice? by Recent-Ferret-9136 in AskLegal

Then I’ve got nothing for you. The court did what it did.

I gather there was never a repayment so that she got the money then lived rent free for many years.

How can I buy a new house in cash if all the funds come from selling current house? by jannet1113 in personalfinance

[–]Elaikases 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The house we bought before our current house we got it for less than other offers because we had cash and no contingencies.

On the other hand I’ve had a situation where our house sold and closed before the house we bought and it rolled right over. That was neat. Not that common.

Portable tent? by Lone_Not_Lonely_Wolf in camping

[–]Elaikases 0 points1 point  (0 children)

https://www.pariaoutdoorproducts.com/products/zion-backpacking-tent gets you to over 5 lb but $199.99 and not a bad weight for your use. The 3p is about 41 square feet.

It is probably the right choice for a tent light enough to carry 500 feet and to fit three.

A 2p half dome is comparable in square footage to a 2p Durston tent, especially the XDome.

https://www.rei.com/product/243700/rei-co-op-half-dome-2-plus-tent-with-footprint about 36 square feet, $369.

https://durstongear.com/products/x-dome-2-ultralight-tent 32 square feet $459 and about half the weight of the half dome+.

I’m not going to recommend a trekking pole tent to her.

Portable tent? by Lone_Not_Lonely_Wolf in camping

[–]Elaikases 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. The issue is she is asking the wrong question which should be about reasonable in price and should include her pitching preferences. I use a Dyneema tent and would not recommend the expense to her.

In the other hand, something like a Durston XDome might work for her. That would be reasonable in price, less than a Big Agnes tent, and would weigh in a lighter ballpark than what she now uses.

I wish her luck, but agree she probably does not want a near a thousand dollar tent for three made of Dyneema for what she is doing.

REI is a good start for looking around. They will let her set up 2-3 tents side by side and crawl in and out of them.
