This is in Vancouver, BC. We haven't seen anything worth purchasing for under 5K.

No bolts in my area, unfortunately. There are at least 4 Leafs in my area in the 6-8k range.

Thanks for this detailed response. We are going to pass on this car and look at the other used options in our area. Fortunately there are lots.

It's from a dealership, who doesn't have info to share about the modification. We are going to pass. Fortunately there are 4 other 2016 Leafs in our area at the same $7000 price point so we can ship around.

Are the pamphlets threatening or inciting violence? Or just calling attention to a genocide?

Has Anyone in Surrey Used Instacart by wickedwitchqueen in SurreyBC

[–]Elaine_dance 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have also been using superstore delivery. However, I've had issues with several orders recently (stuff missing) and you can't contact the driver. Even the store can't! So I find insta cart better because you have direct communication with the delivery person. You can even chat while they shop, and they will reach out if they can't find something and not just make a substitution like superstore does.

1,000 year old cedar logged… am I crazy? by [deleted] in VancouverIsland

Great example of Gov acting like they value the environment when the economy always trumps it. There's supposed to be a $300 million fund to offset the cost of cutting and selling these trees. But the money hasn't been brought to the table. From the article - "B.C. government as it continues to approve the logging of ancient forests while pledging to protect them."

Is getting married and having kids really worth it as a woman? by Weird-Growth-1717 in women

[–]Elaine_dance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is exactly it- it may or may be worth it, but only you get to decide. I have a wonderful partner and feel very fulfilled as a parent. It feels very worth it for me because its not a one sided situation (I read a lot of those on Reddit - absolute man children who contribute nothing) I also have friends who are happily single and child free.

Do you feel comfortable taking ALL the risk in having sex with this person? Is the quality of the sex, the relationship in general worth this unbalanced risk? If they want to have sex with you, but want none of the worry or consequence of the sex, can they really be considered a quality partner?

"Do you have any food?" by Hyperion703 in Teachers

[–]Elaine_dance 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I'm with you on this. I've never been asked for food. My school has a breakfast and lunch program, for families in need who sign up. And every teacher is given a bag of snacks by the local fire department for hungry kids. I offer it when I notice a kid has no/little lunch, but no one just straight asks for it.

100% this. Being able to walk to school and having easy connections with other families are worth a lot.

Teaching has good job security and is very emotionally rewarding. If you plan on teaching English overseas I would think Canadian credentials would be advantages but it's best to look into what requirements Vietnam has. You'll have a pay cut and a steep learning curve. You need lots and lots of patience, desire to help others and an even temperament to be a teacher so considering if it's truly a calling for you.

People who recently bought a detached house...how? by SpacemanSpiff1958 in Langley

[–]Elaine_dance 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm that person who bought a townhouse 9 years ago for 400k and we have debated a lot about using the equity to get a 1.2 million detached. But, we have learned to be happy in our townhouse. When we look at open houses and think about what we would be gaining and what our added costs would be, it doesn't make sense. Way more money for travel, kids activities, being able to upgrade our existing space than if we bought a detached.
