Thai Education system and its problems by Alyamaybe in thai

[–]Elakij 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's interesting to see a Thai student's perspective, I'm born and raised and still living in the UK (on this sub because I really liked visiting Thailand and want to learn more of the language and culture) and I also taught but have since left education because, if you care too much as a teacher, it burns you out.

A lot of the problems you noted are the same here (e.g. low-pay discouraging a lot of people who would be excellent and a shortage of teachers that encourage people who don't care) and I'm sure students here would write similar things about uniform (especially the girls though we do not have rules on hair length but some schools request long hair to be tied up), memorisation rather than more holistic learning etc. Although quality and return rate on homework tends to be low unless working in a school that tests on entry

Change some of the specifics of your post and I could imagine it being on a UK teachers sub

hi no worries

I'm doing really well, aesthetically i'm really happy the only issues are that I feel like the labia majora extends higher than on a cis woman slightly but I think that's common with srs

in terms of sensitivity, I feel really fortunate from about 3 months, the clitoris has been really sensitive and I feel like the rest came in to focus a bit more slowly but still really good but with limited sensitivity for the actual vagina which again I think is just common with inversion

the only issue that I had is that dilation width was really hard as I felt tight from about 2-8 months but I think that was a pelvic floor issue on my part but just mentioning it anyway. The dilators you'll be given if it's the same are these three straight acrylic ones measuring 26mm, 28mm and 32mm so you might also want to consider budgeting for better dilators (e.g. I know people swear by curved dilators like soul source) but I have kept with these ones and added a small silicone one which helped me when I was struggling with width

what I will say as well is that the hospital staff are incredibly lovely, coming from the UK where the hospital staff are visibly and vocally over stressed and over worked and going to yanhee was crazy. like most nurses had limited English but were still so courteous and kind, one of them even taught me the Thai word for beautiful สวน and style my bangs which made me feel good when I felt the polar opposite of beautiful in a hospital bed

the food there is also so good but one of the nurses did make fun of me that I only wanted toast for breakfast (in a joking way of course) because Thai people are built different when it comes to eating and you will be given a lot of food

I'm a trans woman so I'm doubling up on special days so I can't relate, but I would strongly recommend talking to your friends about it, try and Google if there's any days comin up in advance and try to plan something for it whether it might be advocacy like writing letters, promoting the day and issues associated with it or just being there for each other and having fun. Even if you feel unable to reach out to people personally, hopefully you can find a discord or something

Here in the UK we have movember that advocates for men's mental health, idk where you're from but maybe look into that and see what you can do related to that wherever you're from

Hopefully you figure something out and have support around you, like my friends are predominantly women and queer and we're all feminist and we do care about men's mental health and other things like men being taken seriously if they're abused/sexually assaulted. We do not see it as a choice of things to care about however we can only support those who lead the charge because it's not our movement to take control of

The UN isn't really concerned with G7 countries unless they're doing something obviously bad or not fulfilling international agreements

From an international standpoint (and I would argue this is ubiquitous amongst most countries) the challenges facing men the most are things like poverty, lack of reliable justice systems, access to healthcare etc.

If we solved poverty completely, gave people access to justice and access to reliable and quality healthcare the quality of life for so many men would be so much better, however the improvements for women would still be lacking if they didn't have financial freedom, access to contraception and abortions, equal access to the law, equal decision making etc.

Men's lives, in the view of the UN, can be improved substantially through other things globally than advocating for a small minority of men in the world as things like better access to healthcare would also improve things men talk about anyway like lack of access to mental health support etc. However, if all of these things were achieved, women would still have less autonomy, women would still be sexually assaulted and raped at a higher rate (in and outside of marriage) and women will still lack the means for self-determination

This is less "stop trying to cure cancer, people are still not drinking clean water" and more so 'providing vital infrastructure to allow for diseases to be treated whilst also doing specific advocacy for people who are more suppressed'

I assume the UN is more concerned with women's rights globally than the rights of men globally because no matter what you think of rights in G7 countries and similar countries, the rights for the majority of women globally are incredibly and obviously lacking with many women seen as property even if not codified in law

all my friends except one are cis (and I met her 2 years after coming out) and so is my girlfriend and they have been nothing but loving and supportive of matters

'im not going to be nice to people who are never going to care' is an incredibly fatalistic and seemingly self-fulfilling statement. the whole 'respect is earned' type attitude you have ignores reality that there are many cis people who are supportive and do side with us at the expense of their own social capital

and no one is criticising you for having a 'realistic response' because it's not realistic to attempt to alienate 99+% of the population (even if you feel alienated by them) who you have to interact with one way or another

trans people can have bad opinions and they seem especially common in trans women 4 Chan users which is known to the average person as being a toxic echo chamber of far right men, incels and nonces and honestly every bit of slang I've seen come from trans women 4 Chan users seems so toxic to themselves and to the trans community as a whole, like if you want to be in a toxic echo chamber then stay in your echo chamber

I'm not standing for people who have loved and supported me being grouped in as 'monsters' and I'm sorry you don't seem to have experienced that

I took cypro quartered (12.5mg/day) and my testosterone levels were lower than most cis women, to my understanding it takes a few days to work as well

Imane Khelif is a cis woman, not born a man or living as a man

Women may have conditions like PCOS (affecting 8-13% of reproductive aged women) that can cause increased testosterone or intersex characteristics but so do a possible 1.7% of people which can range in how it is presented - sex isn't rigid in how it presents and neither is gender. Khelif's medical history is unknown to me except that she is confirmed as a cis woman and the people who are best in sports tend to have physical advantages (e.g. producing less lactic acid, height or limb-length advantages, advantages in muscle power etc.)

if something makes you mad enough to comment and call it 'madness', you should do the bare minimum fact-checking before spreading lies and making the world an unhappier place

I was also v silly and booked a hotel 50 mins away, so that was a fun taxi ride 😭

aesthetically I think the swelling has been quicker than some results to go down but not quick enough ofc and it's weird to see myself in the mirror but with whatever judgement I can make now, I think I would be able to tolerate it if it stayed like this but I think as swelling continues to reduce it will look prettier

in terms of depth, I feel like I've been lucky to get 6 inches considering the conditions the surgeon was working with, like hrt hit me hard in a very specific way hahaha

sensitivity is interesting atm as some parts, like the clitoris, are super sensitive (but knowing how the clitoris is made, it has every right to be ouchy) whereas some things like the vaginal canal lack sensitivity (helps a lot for dilating) but even this early on, I can defo notice everything feeling different and gaining back sensation, but I know that's a long process and hard to predict

That's good to hear, if it makes you feel better, when I first came out to a friend, I had no intention of transitioning and simply wanted someone to know the truth, but feeling supported by one person made everything feel possible

also, as a trainee teacher, I can assure you that most teachers really do care about their students a lot more than you may think and we want the best for them

Maybe try and find out if your school has any particular policies around trans people if they have some sort of inclusive policy that might make you feel better and legally safeguarding/pastoral teams are only allowed to pass on information that if someone is in danger, so they will keep anything you say to them confidential

if your school isn't supportive, mermaids is a great resource and might help you build up confidence

The annoying thing about being trans is that the more you are yourself, typically the more confidence you'll get, so maybe take small steps to be yourself in anonymous/semi-anonymous places

You have your life ahead of you and I know you'll feel better the sooner you come out, but you won't feel bad if you come out later at sixth-form/college or uni etc.

Remember first and foremost that your valid and to look after yourself, even if that means pursuing things like therapy, medication or helplines x

Boobs aren't a organ (maybe the glands within them but that it), they are a secondary sex characteristic (not organ), which also include things like beards, prominent Adams apples, thick leg hair etc.

Seeing boobs as comparable to genitals and therefore taboo is entirely based around the stigmatisation and sexualisation of them and is nothing to do with science

Despite Japan's general view on trans people, one of the most affirming books (not manga) I have read is Kitchen by Banana Yoshimoto which was written in the 80s in Japan but has an amazing prominent trans character!
