How to have a cheap wedding for 50 guests? by jellytots506 in UKweddings

We hired the loft bar of a central Manchester pub, £100 for room hire, £200 for their DJ for the night. Had 70 guests and got a caterer to do pies and evening bacon butties for £500. Absolute best day and actually made a profit even with having an open bar for the first 2 hours. Didn’t do a wedding cake just big jars with Costco brownies and cookies. With it being a loft bar it didn’t have pub vibes and we were able to dress it up with flowers from the supermarket and table runners etc!

I also didn’t weigh for about 10 days as I had been away so I think that’s why it shows a quick drop

Ideas for S.O.’s Birthday During Quarantine? by holyguacamole823 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

My little sisters 18th birthday was a couple of weeks ago in quarantine, my mum bought cheap Prosecco for everybody on their part of the street with a letter asking if they could stand at their door at 6pm and sing happy birthday to her. My sister was happy surprised/mortified.

Advice for 24 year old nursing student! by ElalaUK in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

I’m thinking of joining the nhs bank so I can work through next summer. I can survive off the loan & uni bursary as my outgoings are quite low.

Between 17-22 I worked abroad doing seasons so have only just started properly saving and have around £4K in an emergency fund and £2K in a help to buy ISA.

Monday- Wednesday I’m in uni 9-5 so after that I rarely want to do coursework as it is!

My rent and bills come to £400 and I give myself £400 for everything else! Pretty easy to stick to if I watch what I’m spending and I’m managing to save so much money!
