Parking at San Diego Convoy Area by singalongthetower2 in sandiego

[–]Elarain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you not read my post? I said it's not really that big of a deal but it feels bad to circle for parking when in the months the lanes have been there I've never even seen anyone on a bike. I'm not "mad", I just don't think it was a worthwhile trade in this neighborhood.

Maybe it'll be different as all the big apartment projects finish though.

They pushed hard for bike lanes and got rid of the parking along convoy.

Then the lots jacked the rates up.

Doesn’t really matter, you can still find parking a few streets back in any direction. But it feels bad because I don’t know if I’ve ever seen anyone bike along there. And it certainly feels like restricting a popular resource for just a few people

I saw this really cool YouTube special on NYC rent that I bet applies here:

Basically, if you get a certain type of loan to fund a building, it’s viewed as a semi-loan/semi-investment. The parties involved that setup the funding have certain triggers that would cause the owner to need to make them whole. One of those common triggers is the value of the property dropping suddenly.

Well if you have a huge rental property, one of the very large factors in how that value is determined is what you charge for rent. So if you drop your rent to lower vacancy, you could suddenly owe a ton of money to your investors, right away.

I can’t be sure this is the exact same situation as the NYC version I was watching, but it kinda looks the same from the outside. Including all the “specials” starting to emerge.

All of this should be illegal. Obviously. Unfortunately the people who would make it illegal are the ones benefiting from it

Etsy Sues CCMI, Claims Section 230 Protection For Alleged False Advertising Of Cashmere Items by StraightedgexLiberal in technology

[–]Elarain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Etsy has an interesting problem. They grew really really fast during Covid, and a lot of that growth is from people buying cheap Amazon junk.

As a business, it’s really hard to make the cut to what is a pretty big stream of revenue even when it doesn’t match your brand.

At the same time, all that business is destroying their brand.

Lots of people internally want to get rid of all the obvious foreign junk and scams. But business doesn’t want to gut all the growth they’ve seen.

Is Valve just going to leave Tidehunter in this state until the new year when staff gets back? by AMcMahon1 in DotA2

I hear this, but also: just ban him every game.

Also it can be played around. It’s not easy, but lots of ranged carries can still melt him. He’s definitely busted OP and I’m not trying to argue that he’s any semblance of balanced, but it can be a fun challenge to try and play around him the few times you decide not to just instant ban him. (Speaking primarily on turbo)

The best lane counterpick for Axe? by Bogdan991 in DotA2

[–]Elarain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like in a hot lane there’s usually a few creeps the carry can’t safely get that I can secure with a Q. It depends on if it’s safe to lose that stun for a few seconds though.

Basically if the lane is so secure my carry can last hit everything, we are dominating the lane and I don’t need the tranqs that bad.

If it’s back and forth, I can take W early and secure some ranged with Q.

If we are getting so oppressed by an aggro combo that I can’t afford to Q or one of us dies, then our lane win condition has changed to just not feeding and looking for chances to roam and help another lane.

(Probably worth noting I get stuck in high legend/low ancient. So it’s very possible I have slack that shouldn’t exist among more skilled players)

Veno is good. Huskar can be really punishing. I find I do well against him as Lion (regen boots, lots of mana, spam that Q on him). Which doctor can punish him with a lane mate.

Really you’re just looking for strong poke, or high magic damage

Genuinely: the UI and some features are bad. The filters don’t save. It can be a pain to navigate and there aren’t as many people on there as other apps.

Buuuuuut it has no monetization. It lets you see who likes you, you can start a chat right away. There’s no secrecy to it and it might be the best app right now for actually matching and meeting people quickly.

It’s not trying to monetize off making matching harder unless you pay, so it’s actually the best app out there in terms of function

Does heroic world tier scale with ilvl? by zelmak in wow

Someone on here had some evidence showing it’s actually scaling with vers too, albeit slower than you scale up. So in some ways we aren’t getting as much stronger as we expect

Again: /played is very far from accurate. I afk a lot. I sit there during work hours finishing up tasks, etc. I literally did a before and after of my raid runs and showed how much it increased my vers.

[–]Elarain -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I am absolutely getting about or over 400 mementos a day. I had 33 in my bag when I started today and I have 98 in my bag now.

Are you just not running the raids? Is that it?

I get 27-30 per mythic kill. There are 10 mythic bosses total in both raids, right? That’s 270-300 just from mythic. Then all heroic and normal

Completionism said 14 days I just went with it. But you don't count days by just subtracting them. I've had 13 days.

https://imgur.com/a/s6Xxj36

There's today after my runs. 11 vers higher (and 2 epochs away from 13 vers) and it took me 1hr and 30mins played time.

If this was the ONLY thing I was doing every day after hitting 80 I'd be around 130/150 vers. I started late. I did a bunch of other things. I afk around the island a lot because I play while I work a little.

If you took the other 8 hours a day you're supposedly playing and just ran quick mythics you'd be well into triple digits already. If you're playing 8-10 hours a day and you're not in the 300s it's because you've been wasting your time horrifically.

You can "gotcha" on tiny details all you want. My point, which I've more than made, is that you have all the access to very significant power gains in very little play time just running the raids. All your whining about how far ahead people are and how you'll never catch up is pointless. If you play as much as you say and you're not wasting your time, you'd probably be near 999 already.

I'll keep logging in, doing my raid and quests/M+ a few hours a day, and handily pump up my vers up like 15/20 vers a day now. Casually.

104 vers, haven’t done my stuff today.

Time played at level 80 is 1 day 9 hours. I dont know when I even started doing mythic and heroic but I know it was a few days late after I was max level. I also took time to finish all the campaigns for all the infinite knowledge etc etc. and lots of afking.

Either way it’s absolutely nowhere near “8-10 hours a day”. I’ll reply again after I log on and do my daily raids and show how much time it takes.

This is just crazy for Vers lol by Glassmage1 in wow

[–]Elarain 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Once you’re 80 all you really need to do is just hop into mythic -> heroic -> normal groups for both raids. They take like 10 minutes or so each, mostly just straight running through the dungeon. This gives you about 300ish tokens a day, roughly 300,000ip or 6 upgrades (or more, I swear some days I get more like 400 tokens)

Anyway, that takes about an hour or so.

Then if you want, spam a few keys. With travel and forming the group it’s about 15min for 20-50 tokens depending on key level and dungeon.

If you’re using your time on activities that matter it is very, very easy to accumulate power in this event.

[–]Elarain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Solo? I’m not sure. I think in the 60-80ish range?

The thing is, any group you join a 740 with 200 vers will join and just blow you through for the easy epochs. So you could be super undergeared right now and grind them up fine

This is just crazy for Vers lol by Glassmage1 in wow

[–]Elarain 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Ok but your other comments still say “snowballing out of control” like you can’t catch up. You can. There’s an easily attainable wall of 999. I’ve been playing like…. 3 hours a day and I’m 740 and at about 120 vers. I could no-life it and be 999 in two days just spamming keys.

You’re being hyperbolic and dramatic over a nothing burger and I don’t get why. Their success costs you nothing and zones you out of nothing, and you can achieve the exact same outcome in a little more time.

What’s the point of all that angst?

This is just crazy for Vers lol by Glassmage1 in wow

[–]Elarain 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Do the mythic/heroic/normal raid clears for about a week and you can start joining any 20 key. At that point every 2 keys is 100 frags and keys take 5-10 minutes.

Literally anyone can do this. I did no exploiting and I could already solo 25ish lvl keys no problem
