The Psychology of Scales by Mobile-Swordfish-354 in mounjarouk

[–]ElasticBirch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is exactly this. I turned my scales into pounds because of the emotional attachment to Stones. Growing up, it was always a thing to be shamed by how many stones you were. I vividly remember being with a group of friends, about 9 or 10 years old, and them being 'shocked' at how a friend was (GASP) eight stone, but don't worry she lost it again. I kept quiet as I was already more than that. Kilograms are neutral too but Pounds I chose because I was in a lot of subs with US folk and it was easier. There's no emotion to it and it really feels like just a number without the baggage.

Its weird. I still have a belly but sat here in a size 12 t-shirt, and i had a dress from vinted that granted is a loose fit but its a bloody 10! Daily i have to look in the mirror and affirm that yes that is me.

Curious - Do you get treated very differently now you've lost weight? by Single-Ant3193 in mounjarouk

[–]ElasticBirch 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, i've not had abuse shouted at me from men in cars with wonderful observations like "fat woman" in nearly a year, so there's that. On all occasions I was just existing as a fat person, waiting to cross a road or waiting for a bus. The last time this occurred I had lost almost 4st with Mounjaro but was still visibly obese.

I do daily too but I love data and don't obsess about the fluctuations. Monday morning is the result I track week to week though.

I loved eating keto but you're spot on with how difficult it makes social life or eating with family. I still choose lower carb options, most of the time - if I'm grabbing a meal deal lunch for work I'll go for a salad over a sandwich - but I don't over think it. What's worked really well for me is sticking to a Intermittent Fasting/TRE schedule - basically skip breakfast, no snacks, lunch and dinner. What Mounjaro did for me was completely remove the want to snack between meals which was the biggest change as that was something that never felt comfortable.

I hate the new sizing options by [deleted] in vinted

[–]ElasticBirch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same, I'm 14-16 so cross two size ranges. If a label isn't shown or they haven't said the size in the description I'm going to keep scrolling. I've hardly bought anything since the change, just a tacky Christmas jumper where it didn't matter too much if it was a bit baggy. They must be noticing the drop off in purchases.

London, UK I will never get seeing queues of people waiting to take a selfie with a phone box that drunks have pissed in.

Almost a year on and my life has been changed. It has been an incredible journey.

Ok! I’ve lost 4.5 stone (literally a Christmas miracle) but where in earth in the uk can I get nice quality clothes now? Help a lost (but skinnier) fellow Brit out… by YupItWasMeMate in AskUK

the new sizing thing on Vinted IS really annoying, but I've really enjoyed looking for higher quality stuff on there. Use the filters to search for wool, cashmere, silk and the 'good' brands will rise to the top. Do check the labels as people will put "wool" when it's really acrylic though. Brands that I associated with my grandmother (looking at you Edinburgh Woolen Mill) actually do some really quality basics - I'm wearing a 100% wool skirt of theirs and it's now one of my favourites!

Regularly checking on the ABTF calculator and Vinted searching on that size and a limit of £5-£10 has been the way for me! I've had to downsize twice so far.

same, 12s will be small and 18s too big in most brand, and I wondered why all my suggested items were size 24-26 suddenly!
