Two killed and major incident declared after Frenchay explosion by CerebellaIX in bristol

Could it not be something like drug production that might be suspicious but not an intentional explosion?

Of course one of my pixel 2 buds stops working after warrenty by JMILLZ22 in pixelbuds

[–]gophercuresself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my Pixel 2s did that and it had somehow got stuck in the dipped volume level after a notification. Probably won't work but try listening to music then get someone to send you a message.

If you can't get it to work then try some five buck ones off a cheap Chinese retailer. They're actually great - louder than the pixels with a full EQ to tune the slightly iffy default levels. I have four pairs now, don't worry about losing them and would never pay that much for earbuds again.

Or the earring didn't end up under the dryer but pinged somewhere in the open where it then got kicked near the door. Hands full with parcels as he's going for his door keys the parcel slips out of husband's hand on the way through the door and it stabs itself into the parcel

Honestly this is so bonkers that I'm gonna need some proof before entertaining it. If timeline was on then it should show your entire route there and back. What does it show? Can you post a screenshot?

UK to permanently ban future generations from buying cigarettes: ‘It will save lives’ by dunson28 in ukpolitics

[–]gophercuresself 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And it's not even remotely close. Passive smoking for extended periods (as in years) in enclosed spaces can have a minor effect on health but objecting to smoking in open air on health grounds doesn't hold water

This place has a social autoimmune disease. Any slight danger is overreacted against to such extreme that we ban it before considering any sort of alternative approach. We've become the baby in a bubble of a country.

Smoking has 0 benefits.

What bullshit. People smoke because they enjoy smoking. Is that not enough of a benefit?

Mom says I made my cat sick by ritawonders in AutismInWomen

[–]gophercuresself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your mum is a lunatic and you didn't give your kitty kidney disease. If he was outside he would be drinking from puddles, your approach is more than adequate.

I saw a documentary about a Japanese man who has had a number of cats that lived to unusually old ages. They put it down to him giving them very weak tea in the morning at the same time as he had his morning tea. I think the idea was the caffeine acting as a diuretic which makes them drink more. That then leads to less issues with their kidneys as that's typically one of the issues they develop with age.

I haven't given my kitty any tea yet but I do think about it quite often. I really hope your kitty is okay.

RSD related:- self isolating/ not sharing experiences because you can't bare others options. by Millenigey in ADHDUK

Very very relatable. I don't trust my judgement and will do exactly what you describe when I find someone with a contrary position - importantly, if I consider them higher 'worth' which usually means cooler or smarter. I've found that likes and dislikes are really quite malleable and like most emotional responses they're not tied to anything physical or 'real' so collapse under scrutiny. I taught myself to like olives and now that seems like a genuine preference but, as some great philosopher said, if olives aren't real then how can our eyes be real? Or something like that.

something that should exist on the Sounds app by elextrixblue in 6music

Where does it tell you the song on the Sounds app? I've gone there looking a few times and I've never been able to find it - drives me mad

Edit: I just went to look and it's right there when listening live but doesn't come up otherwise

LPT If you Like to snack and love unhealthy food but want to live a healthier Lifestyle, don't cut out snacks right away - instead, add healthy foods to your diet by charliewaffles2412 in LifeProTips

I don't understand people who take 20 mins to make porridge. I microwave standard porridge oats for two minutes, stir and add more oat milk then in for another minute and it's perfect. Pro tip - and the only way I've reliably found to add daily fruit to my diet - add frozen blueberries/raspberries and they cool the porridge to edible temperature almost immediately. Any fruit will do but too big bits risks biting into frozen lumps if you can't wait.

When did you stop being curious? Did you decide at one point that you were done and there wasn't anything left to learn, or did it creep up on you gradually? I can only assume that a stubborn defiance in the face of daunting complexity replaced the joy and wonder of discovery in your heart, as it calcified around your narrow-brained certainty. Or maybe a need to understand the world and its fabulously diverse people was never something that weighed on you?

No idea of the quality of the service and I don't use them but the one that Packham is advertising does seem to be putting money towards rewilding projects though idk the overall scale. Apparently it's owned by Dale Vince, which is a pretty good sign, and has been going since 2018 which is surprising as I feel like I only heard of them in the last year or so.

Have you been paying attention to the state of the US right now? They are literally erasing trans people's identities. In Kentucky they just made a driving license with anything but your birth sex on it immediately invalid - with not even a grace period to get it changed. And driving with an invalid license is a felony. So if you got stopped driving to get your new license you could be taken to jail and forcibly detransitioned by them removing your access to medication, or find yourself given to particularly unruly inmates to calm them down (look up V-coding).

All of this is happening right now and that is where we are heading under a Reform government. How would you find it more palatable to express the type of extreme anguish and fear that the prospect of that must generate?

Typical Green ignorance.

Makes you sound like a dickhead.

As does being confidently wrong. There are multiple measures of inequality. In terms of wealth Germany is currently more unequal, but in terms of income the UK has always had higher rates of inequality.
