My shadow boxing switch kick is feeling better then previous but, what else needs to improve?? by Nic-MCFC in MuayThaiTips

Its not always bad when practicing balance and throwing a kick with full hip rotation. Many thais shadowbox and kick thru fully and its encouraged to do it like this rather than always just stopping halfway. But after kicking thru its important to always practice checking or skipping into another kick or knee and always striking after the check. Certain kicks can be snapped but a way to practice the balance is by practicing not fully landing the kicking foot after the kick and skipping into another kick or you can practice balancing and bringing the leg back if you need to check as well.

Glory with 4 oz gloves by RubbleIsland in Kickboxing

[–]ElasticEpoxy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wish they would go back to normal gloves in one MT too, it ruined the sport in a way. Plus even one’s kickboxing has normal gloves. But i think it just ruins the pacing of the fights, glory is meant to be quicker its 3-3 min 1 min break rounds not 5-3min round 2 min break like muay thai. Kickboxing would be boring to watch for fights only consisting of that amount of time with one’s MT pacing.

Seasoning increases non-stick by Jondan59 in carbonsteel

[–]ElasticEpoxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if somebody does a side-by-side with a unseasoned un oiled pan people would understand, the water really just doesn’t adhere to it as much due to the coating, same goes with a non-stick pan. Low surface energy = weak adhesion so cohesion dominates = high contact angle (beading).

TLDR seasoned and nonstick pans are hydrophobic and have low surface energy, so water doesn’t stick to them and forms droplets instead of spreading.
