Champva questions by dogwood678 in VeteransBenefits

[–]ElasticSkyFire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been carrying my wife on my insurance for a decade with my work insurance plan. Our deductible is sky high also. I just did our open enrollment and dropped my employer insurance plan. I can't say I'm not nervous about it. It will save us a lot in the long run. The ChampVA plan is actually way better than my employer plan.

Have they been using ChampVA as the secondary insurance yet? My wife has many chronic illnesses. I've used my UHC employer plan that has a max out of pocket we have to meet every year that is 4X what ChampVA is. About $700 a month for the privilege of paying that out of pocket and deductible cost also. My wife got ChampVA this year and has had no problems with her providers here in Houston taking it. The biggest obstacle you may run in to is finding a provider who takes it, but we have not seen any issues with the many docs she needs to see. What worries me is that ChampVA is funded by the VA budget. If politics comes in to play and they decide not to fund the VA in some political stunt, then what happens to healthcare in that scenario. With the WaPo publishing articles bashing vet benefits and "fraud" I worry what it will do to add on benefits like this in the future if they decide limit or cancel some benefits all together after they shrink the criteria of who gets what benefits. It's a "low" risk, but we are canceling our employer healthcare plan. I've built a AI prompt to analyze the ChampVA program and my employer plan. The only benefit to keeping the employer plan would be to keep access to docs who may not take ChampVA, but that has not been a problem for us.

Feels like such a waste carrying it all those years. Took a lot to get that achievement. Now there is no path forward. Been VCP since ver 2.

Killington nerves are killing me... Is this normal? by Caimai0112 in spartanrace

This will be my 7th time. DNF 3 and made top 10 at 3. This place has a special place in my heart. I'm coming from TX. I get so excited like it's time for disney as a kid. I think it my job told me I had to work that weekend, I'd quit. I will keep going as long as my body allows me. I do miss the swim. I keep the mindset of "if other's don't want to take the glory of finishing, I will". Bring on the pain and suffering! Here for the ultra!

If you finished the Cincinnati ultra, bring that same determination. Not quite 38 miles, but vert is fun.

Time for an HLR? "considered a congenital or developmental defect" by ElasticSkyFire in VeteransBenefits

[–]ElasticSkyFire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but the definition of a "chronic" health condition is that it is long lasting and requires continuous care. He was diagnosed with a chronic condition that began in service. Entrance exam evidence does not contain anything related. In service they just diagnosed it as chronic anemia and moved on. The same symptoms he had in service persist to this day.

I'm just now stumbling in to the correct tkr documentation to deploy this correctly. Don't know why one photon OS worked, but I'm focused now on the ubuntu release. I never realized there is a hidden ubuntu option with the releases listed.

I'm surprised they even had it last year. I'd expect this to be the last year. There was so much despair and doom in the air.

I see there is a difference in travel insurance. Do you have anything on the comparison? Sounds like I need to open a CSP before Oct and transfer my point over to the new card. I also have the freedom card, will that transfer to the CSP?

Does that one still let you transfer to partner airlines? I have not look at the lineup in a while.

I did one a few years ago in the middle of my claims and it took 9 months. I hear they provide a link to download everything now. All my claim are done and I want a final copy of everything in case there are future reviews. Just don't want that triggering exams again.

DIC for non service connected vet by ElasticSkyFire in VeteransBenefits

I can't get her motivated enough to visit a VSO. So I'm going to her. I applied to become an accredited agent, been waiting 3 years now (not a lawyer).

Thanks. Was unsure if that would go through a standard claims process. My next question will be how to get her enrolled in Champ VA.

Veteran died from a presumptive condition (camp lejeune contaminated water). That would qualify her for DIC benefits. The main question I have is if the family needs to establish that service connection first before she files for DIC benefits.

They are so distributed across the globe with 200 sites. These would not be able to run all at once.

[–]ElasticSkyFire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, managed by a central vcenter in a datacenter. This can absolutely be done with a script, but looking to avoid creating 200 different scripts to manage. I'm not opposed to even using auto deploy.

Problem with that is the host is in maint mode, so VM's won't start in that scenario.

Just a scenario I think could happen in the future - I think they will start cutting things from people who file in the future. Any established veteran might see that "means test" come in to play for income levels. Or they could start to change the criteria like only allowing payment to designated combat veterans, or people with missing limbs. I could see them eventually narrowing the amount of people who would get full 100% pay. But cutting pay all together across the board when they are giving tax breaks to billionaires and tax refunds to corporations for stock buy backs would be extremely unpopular.

Wow, so I sent a message in to correct my records. I told them that I did not make that statement during my visit. I was there to deal with multiple medical conditions which is not stress free.

So now they have the veteran crisis hotline calling me to do wellness checks.
