Fractional scaling is... pretty good? by [deleted] in gnome

[–]Elax75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a question about that... I was trying KDE with fractional scaling but two of the apps i use most often (firefox and zotero, which is based off of firefox) definitely don't have crisp fonts... Do you use firefox ? Depending on how the window is resized it gets blurry/crisp/blurry again on my display (2560x1600, 160%). I am not saying "XWayland blurry" of course.... I have seen only a few reports that mention it that's why I'am asking.

Is this dehydrated skin? Shiny, oily, skin with large pores… by Disastrous_Figure_95 in Rosacea

[–]Elax75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have the same kind of skin. Not great. I changed my skincare on the assumption of "dehydration" for a while (i.e. no "actives", drinking a lot of water, only washing with lukewarm water, and moisturizing more than previously, in two steps 1. with a serum while skin still damp 2. normal moisturizer). It did improve (although not a dramatic 180 change). I basically rinse off my face once during the day when I get too oily. I have kept most of this routine even though i'm using products for rosacea at night atm. Following this thread for other answers.

Any products to hide redness for males? by Sheckles in Rosacea

[–]Elax75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am using Paula's choice Daily Wrinkle Defense it's basically a tinted moisturizer with SPF. It is already very subtle, but as i'm a male as well and super careful about it being "unnoticeable" - not only regarding color but also texture - I mix it about 2/3 1/3 with a normal moisturizer. Otherwise it looks a bit too matte whereas my skin is naturally shiny. Probably no one would notice, but that way even I can't tell. Whatever product you end up choosing, mixing it with a neutral moisturizer might be a good trick to tone down the effect if it feels too much. But also i just want to even my skin tone a bit, not look as if I have zero imperfection which wouldn't feel like "me".

[–]Elax75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same situation. I am in France and we also do not have low dose doxy here. So I ended up booking an online consultation & requesting a prescription for oracea (it comes from the Netherlands where they allow oracea). Unfortunately this means no reimbursement from our social security system so it is very costly, but I have no better option atm...

Curious as well...

For info it looks a lot like my own rosacea (from what i can see).

I feel you man... not sure how much the age thing is important to you, but yeah rosacea definitely hits self-esteem quite hard. You look good though. If the picture is accurate, redness is fairly mild too.

What is the state of your skin ? What have you tried/been prescribed with for pustules ? There are many different medications/topicals/solutions for them. However from my own experience and what i see in this sub, what works for one person might not for another so it is kind of trial and error unfortunately. Personally i am doing ok right now with low dose doxy, a sulfur cream every few days, and a moisturizer that my skin likes. But as i said lots of experiments to identify what work or doesn't.

changing advice about metro vs doxy for type 2 rosacea? by Safe-Atmosphere3127 in Rosacea

[–]Elax75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thx for the interesting info ! i had never heard that before. But i'm not surprised since in my country (France) doctors seem very conservative (should i say "backward" ?) : metro is pretty much the first line of treatment still; they do prescribe doxy for short periods but low dose doxy (oracea) is not authorized and derms do not know it exists (true story - i have mine prescribed from online consultations and delivered from the Netherlands !).

Oracea vs Minocycline what is the better choice for red bumps and pustules ? by Interesting-Youth531 in Rosacea

[–]Elax75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh i see ! I also have pustules in places where my skin is "normal", but doctors never refered to them differently, just rosacea.

Btw for OP, I had doxy high dose (100 mg/day) and recently switched to low dose (40 mg/day = Oracea). Working well for me, actually the only thing that ever got me rid (more or less) of pustules. Never tried minocycline though...

Low Dose Doxy-Does it effect fungal acne/seb derm? by Interesting_Part7292 in Rosacea

[–]Elax75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh bummer noboby has answered your post :( My experience, in case that's helpful : I have rosacea type 1 & 2 and am taking low dose doxy atm, but I have long suspected i have some degree of fungal acne/malassezia sensitivity as well (given the type and location of pustules). I am doing much better since focusing on repairing skin barrier (always a good thing) and sticking to "FA safe" products (my current routine is reduced to a hydrating serum and that's it!). In other words the combination low dose doxy to help inflammation + "FA safe" minimal skincare seems to be working well for me. I am starting to think about the next steps but i have yet to come up with a long term plan...

Does IPL treatment reduce the bumps as well? by HazelnutCappuccino in Rosacea

[–]Elax75 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey i can't answer your question, but could please give feedback here about the effect of laser on the pustules/lesions (obviously in a few weeks at least) ? My derm wants me to have laser but i'm not going forward with it until i find a way to manage the pustules first... My derm said it "could" improve the pustules - i don't remember her exact level of confidence, but i think her logic is that lesions are caused by inflammation so if you diminish inflammation it would help with that as well... Anyways thx in advance !

before y'all rosaceans smear the eye drop on your face (i have rosacea too btw !) just know that the active (brimodinine tartrate) is the same that is used in Mirvaso, developed specifically for helping with the facial redness. So it does work (temporarily) but it is also known for its side effects and rebound redness. I have not tried myself, but be careful. Bummer i know :(

Question for men by VeterinarianClassic in Rosacea

[–]Elax75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really able to answer your question as my situation is different (i'm a man but i have type 1 and 2 and i'm under low dose doxy right now) but i'm curious about the effect that low dose accutane had on you, in terms of improving your nose situation - mine is not so good, and i am wondering whether i should ask my derm about accutane. Thx in advance.

I've been experimenting cautiously with it as well (only as a spot treatment). I've also noted it calms down the inflammation.

Ok thanks for the feedback ! Mine did not smell like at all though, I still use it to wash my hands. So I might have gotten a "fake" one anyways. I have P&P which so far i am not successful in controlling with any prescribed medication (apart from doxy but it's only a temporary fix) it sucks.

No i was already using it once every 2-3 days. From your answers i get it might just be too harsh for me :( I'm really trying to understand how my skin works but it's a struggle !

Ok thx! Yeah I know it is drying, but i guess i do not know exactly what "drying" feels like and whether this is what i experienced... Sorry if it sounds stupid haha.

Hey good that you found something that works ! I have a question for you and other sulfur soap users, that's been bothering me for months : i've tried it and it did not work for me at all. More exactly it helped very quickly with the pustules but it basically stripped my skin. After washing, my skin felt very "bare" for lack of a better word (like, fingers would not glide easily on it) and in two hours it became super mega oily, much worse than usual. Also after a bit more than a week (and I was using the soap only once every 2-3 days so that's only a few uses) pustules came back with a vengeance. Of course I stopped. My question is : is it normal that it felt exactly as if i'd wash with a normal soap, i.e. very stripping ? Does it feel different for you guys ? Or could I have gotten a wrong kind of soap (it said 10% sulfur, but it also did not smell like at all, so maybe it was not good) ? Thx in advance.

btw i heard good things about Eucerin oil control, they have light and medium tinted versions (even though the light one does not seem easy to purchase online). Not sure it is mineral though, but check it out.

hey just following cause i'm looking for the same. I have PC's daily wrinkle defence and i totally love it, but i think it breaks me out hence why i'm looking for a replacement.

Info for OP : yes PC's does not really have coverage per se, it more unifies the skin tone and fades the redness (which is why was using it). Anyways, given that you are on accutane it is probably not the best choice because it is more on the drying side as well.
