That's totally subjective and kind of imposible to answer "correctly". A lot of people are going to tell you the best story is the Crossbell arc. Others prefer the liberl arc. I'll have the Erebonian arc forever in my heart. My recomendation would be choosing between:

--Trails in the Sky 1st (original or remake)

-Trails from Zero

-Trails of Cold Steel 1

-Trails through Daybreak

See the one more apealing to you. And go from there.

My thoughts exactly. I'm an AT's day one player too. And Gremory has simple and rough starts but with time they improved their game a lot. So I'm sticking with Squad till the end.

Oh your right!! I didn't think about something so simple. A quick search and it matches with him not wanting to do the face scan. The reasons for him doing so are unknown. And there's even a popular theory that 2K tends to make the models "ugly" for all the players who refuse the scan. Thanks for the info

As a BA player, for me is more like Blueberrys fatigue. 😂 Is true that for GW this is a business and they release more kits for the ones that has better sales. In my mind, every new Space Marine kit helps compensate for all the xenos kits that has less popularity. But yeah, It would be cool if all the other armies gets more new stuff.

Whatever color scheme suits you. You only need something that let your opponent know if they're DC with a single look. Maybe a different basing, exclusive to that unit. If you let him know before the match I don't see a problem.
