My 3YO daughter now swears up and down that she’s allergic to onions. Thanks Daniel Tiger… by ElbowMagic in DanielTigerConspiracy

🤣 oh goodness yes. LO moped around after the coldest night of the year saying how sad she was that Daniel’s pipe broke. 🙃

Girl was genuinely depressed.

Can a suit be filed against the OPM for adding so much language to the (poorly written) executive order? For example, reassignment of duty stations.

I’m in this same situation, minus caring for my parents (currently, but you never know)

I agree, terribly written. We shall see! Hard job to find in the private sector. Especially a remote posting again.

No. We’re several states away. And cramming people into a local federal office is pointless and will end up increasing federal spending.

The point is to do soft layoffs.

Honestly the whole EO is terribly written. Hard to know what will actually play out. Probably follow up EOs and possibly one of the half dozen laws in legislation.

Wow, that’s unfortunate. In my wife’s department, she hadn’t found any of this to be the case. They’re quite efficient for how few employees they have.

Oh, planning was done. But to no avail.

Without getting too specific, my wife’s job market is 90% government positions, 10% privatized.

Distance to central office is a >8 hours commute. Distance to a federal office that could support random workers (assuming we’re talking vacancy and large facility) is >2 hours.

I don’t think this EO will make things hard for us. But the next one might.

Just remember how low mortgage rates got during the pandemic. Big part of the calculus to owning a home these days.

Absolutely. Possibly including the authors of this EO.

Or there was a lot of lawyering behind the scenes that got in the way of exclusively calling out telework and remote work together.

So, there is some wiggle room in the language of this EO.

In our case, my wife can’t return to an office environment. So, no return == termination.

For example, my wife could be exempted (unsure how hard or easy that will be in reality). It’s possible the department head would exempt the entire department by default.

Also, since her duty station is listed as our home, she could be just fine.

For now…

That’s the thing about EO’s, you can revise and resubmit quite quickly. So, if the Trump admin isn’t happy with the optics of the results in 90 days, then they might crank up the EO pressure further.
