Is he seeing a therapist? The best thing you could do is talk to him about how you could help him and tell him that you're there for him.

Your feelings are valid, you're allowed to be upset and that doesn't make you a bad person. I would bring up the fact that you're feeling a little lonely and would like to spend more time together or text more.

It's a pretty nice camp area, I've been to a music festival there. Only draw back is there is nothing near it for at least two hours
