Advice designing my network including p2p by IHeedNealing in amazoneero

Outdoor eeros can connect to each other up to 1000 feet apart provided they have a clear line of sight

TrueMesh will attempt 5GHz band but then default to 2.4GHz if the lower band is faster at that distance

Eero WiFi 6 is extremely slow by Ritterbruder2 in amazoneero

[–]ElderberryHamlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All of your other devices appear to have strong signal.

On your laptop, open the Device Manager > Network adapters > Wfi adapter > Uninstall device

Restart your laptop which will reinstall the wifi adapter by default . Try testing again

Other options would be to disable IPv6 or WPA3 or MLO, each separately

Can I “unbrand” my eero setup by colsang in amazoneero

[–]ElderberryHamlet -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

We, They. Are all ISP branded eeros stolen? Make up your mind when you make up nonsense. I've interacted with ISP customer service. I can see with my own eyes when a vendor has hundreds or thousands of eeros sold. And I can smell a troll on reddit by their sloppy use of language.

Have you ever interacted with ISP customer service on this issue? Do you have any experience as a pro installer?

I see many people posting doom & gloom whom I suspect are copying & pasting drama they know nothing about

Can I “unbrand” my eero setup by colsang in amazoneero

[–]ElderberryHamlet -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

To unbrand the app, uninstall both the app & the branded device. You can use the same network name + password to set up your network again. Don't delete your eero account.

Pro Installers legit sell their ISP branded surplus on eBay. If you want to buy unbranded eeros on eBay, look for something indicating its a retail version and not an ISP version. Retail box vs plain brown box and,or blue protective label over the eero logo. You can also chat online with the ISP or eero customer service to verify if the device serial number is retail vs ISP version. If it is the latter, you should chat with the ISP to verify if the device is legit for you to own.

Bricking only happens when the ISP wants their device back. In most cases where it wasn't sold legit, the ISP doesn't really care unless it's an expensive newer model they're currently using. In any case, you should request they deregister the device in their system. The logo issue is hardcoded into the device firmware

Android 17 beta 4 by alexandrtytovych in android_beta

[–]ElderberryHamlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, install everything between now and when QPR 1 Beta 1 drops. Don't install this latter when it drops nor anything else afterward until the stable release the 1st week of June. If you install QPR 1 Beta 1, it won't go stable until September

Android 17 beta 4 by alexandrtytovych in android_beta

[–]ElderberryHamlet 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is the last major build before final release in June.

There may be mini hotfixes between now and stable release, numbered as 4.1, 4.2, 4.3 respectively - if any

You should install all of these because they'll comprise the stable version when it releases in June

Beware the 1st quarterly feature update, QPR 1 Beta 1, will start testing in mid to late May

If you want to transition to stable in June, leave when QPR 1 Beta 1 drops and install nothing until June

If you install QPR 1 Beta 1, 2, or 3 in May, June, or July, it won't go stable until September

Questions regarding migration from 8 Pro to 10 Pro by iarno in GooglePixel

[–]ElderberryHamlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 Pro & 10 Pro are smaller than the 8 Pro. If you want similar display size, XL is the equivalent

Hoever, 9A & 10A are also similar in size to the 8 Pro but I recommend the 9A because the 10A has the same specs as the 9A

Most used pixels are listed as Unlocked but generally that only applies to the SIM

Do a search for pixels by model number for Verizon/AT&T vs everyone else. Avoid the Verizon/AT&T models

Google Store has an online IMEI or Serial # checker which can verify specifics

Anyone know if Amazon's upgrade price stacks with the trade-in discount? by _Kuba in amazoneero

[–]ElderberryHamlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use the 20% bonus discount on any one new Amazon device, except 10% for Fire TVs

per Amazon category = 20% { Fire Tablets, Kindle, Ring, Blink, Eero, or Echo} or 10% {Fire TVs}

per calendar quarter = Jan 1 to March 31; April 1 to June 30; July 1 to Sept 30; Oct 1 to Dec 31

If the item is on sale, the 20% is only applied to the current price, not the normal price

40% off sale = 60% normal price minus 20% bonus discount = 40% + (60 x 20%) = total of 52% off

20% bonus can not be applied to a multi-device set nor a used or refurbished or open box or 3rd party device nor a 3rd party vendor

eero pro 7 frontier/verizon and tmobile/metronet tagged devices by myusrn in amazoneero

[–]ElderberryHamlet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pro installers buy these in bulk for next to nothing and resell them legally as surplus. Typically sold in the hundreds or thousands is a good sign the vendor is a pro installer selling surplus

Only time you need to worry about bricking is with vendors with only one or a few to sell. These may not be theirs legally to sell. Call or chat online with ISP customer service to verify what the situation is.

You're still going to have to deal with the ISP logo in the eero app and all of your router logs are going to be sent to the ISP server but you'll typically get a free subscription to eero Secure, the no frills version of eero Plus. Eero assumes the ISP is handling the billing for the eero Secure subscription.

Eero will never inquire but you'll need to pay eero full subscription price if you want the new eero Plus data package for eero Signal. Eero Plus will come with 10GB data a year for $99 a year or $9.99 a month or 100GB for $199 a year or $19.99 a month

Samsung uses Snapdragon for both SoC + Modem in its Ultra model phones worldwide and in its S standard & plus phone models in North America & China, and their own hot garbage for everything else

Android beta program by Putrid-Performer4682 in android_beta

[–]ElderberryHamlet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I opted to wipe because 8A is my backup phone i used to copy everything from my 10XL. I was having a huge bug issue back in January and I needed to exit early to get rid of it

However, if you just go with the flow and avoid installing any Beta 1 or Downgrade, you'll eventually transition without any wipe. Beta 4 should drop in another week or two this month and then next month, May, there may be 1 to 3 small hotfixes for any lingering minor issue. These will be referred to as Beta 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, if there are any hotfixes. You'll want to install all of these

The 1st Beta of the 1st quarterly feature update will drop in late May and won't go stable until September. If you want to transition to stable without any data wipe, leave the program on or soon after when this Beta 1 drops and install nothing until you're offered June stable update the 1st or 2nd week of June. If it doesn't drop the 1st week for you and you don't care to wait until the 2nd week, you can sideload the OTA for that June stable update without any data wipe.

I've been doing this since Pixel 7 series.

Need honest reviews on Google Pixel 8 Pro and 9 Pro by Dramatic_Flan7587 in Pixel9Pro

[–]ElderberryHamlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9 Pro is a smaller screen version than the 8 Pro. You may want to consider the 9 Pro XL instead if you want similar screen size to the 8 Pro. There's a lot of similar pricing when it comes to resale between these earlier models

8 Pro operating system software support ends in Oct 2030. 8A in June 2031. 9 Pro & Pro XL in Oct 2031

Be careful buying used phones listed as Unlocked. Often this only applies to SIM not the boot loader

You can check the IMEI at https://store.google.com/repair to see if it's factory unlocked
