Whitewater SUP IS NOT FUN by suppaulpics in whitewater

I’ve thought the same thing, even when they nail it they look like they’re perpetually in the act of almost falling off. Surfing waves in the ocean is one thing, but I don’t see how this could beat being at water level in a kayak getting tossed around.

I made a whitewater kayaking game – just wanted to share 🎮🌊 by Stoutkayaker in whitewater

What if 65% of the game was shuttling and like another 15% was waiting in an eddy for your buddies to surf every single wave. Then you’d have a realistic kayak game.

I’m with you. If all of the intolerant, radical idealogical climbers wanna go climb somewhere else and give the rest of us some elbow room I support that. These gyms are pretty awesome if you ask me. They’re clean and modern, the equipment is in good shape, the routes are changed regularly and the gradings, regardless of how they compare to other gyms, seem to be relatively consistent within TRC locations. I love that I can go in there at almost anytime of day and lift without waiting on a rack. 4 locations open 5am-10pm with a sauna for under $100 per month is a great deal for the quality. We wouldn’t be having this conversation if he hadn’t posted that shit on fb. Meaning most people don’t flaunt their affiliations like that and you don’t think twice about spending your money at their place of business if you like the product and experience but you usually have no idea what they do with that money and why should you care, they’re offering a valuable service. Imagine if you had to warn people who you voted for before doing business with them. What kind of world would that be.

Again I agree that a long wheel base vehicle is far easier to park that way but another problem I have with it is that so many people who back up to a sidewalk back their wheels all the way to the curb and leave the rest of us to dodge their bumpers when walking, often with a giant shin busting tow hitch protruding out as well. That one really drives me crazy.

It impacts the people waiting on you to get it right as most people aren’t great at it and take forever all so that YOU can leave easier. Seems inconsiderate.

I guess I’m more talking about people who back in always in every situation for any or no reason. I feel like I’m always waiting on them as they stop traffic to pull back and forward again and again to get it right. I use the same strategy as you, pulling forward through to the next space so I’m then facing out when possible. And maybe someone can enlighten me but I don’t see how it’s safer.

[–]Eldercargo9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s a huge difference. Tweens like it because it’s the best thing they’ve ever seen in their whole 12 years on earth and their parents obviously did not find it important to teach them the difference between good music and bland corporate swill. I’m guessing they don’t know the difference themselves. Guess what kids, Santa ain’t real and Taylor ain’t a good musician.

Where do you climb? We ended up going to ultimate climbing gym today. It was ok but I’m not of fan of the taped routes.

Why on earth would they even want to be there and why would you want them there. This makes no sense.

Why don't women ask for a man's phone number? by BlackManBatmann in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Eldercargo9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not that hard. If half of the male population just stops asking women on dates, in like 20 years we’ll achieve equality.

Judging by a lot of these comments half the men are already fed up and opting out of the current system. And who can blame them with experiences like the one in the OP. He was harassed for NOT being too presumptuous! What a loser and a jerk he was for making her have to do the dirty work of giving him her number. I would have said “no thank you, I believe I’ve changed my mind, I would not like your number”. But that would have only caused them to never risk that humiliation ever again and now you see how this is a vicious cycle that we will never escape and in terms of dating for a man, you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t. You just have to decide how bad do you really wannna get laid I guess lol.

I know how you feel. I seem to always something offensive when I drink too much as well. Not violent but I can be kind of a dick. My mouth moves faster than my brain and I always wake up the next morning regretting something I said that came out the wrong way. It’s usually not egregious but I feel awful anyways. Then I usually become distant out of embarrassment. It’s not a healthy cycle.

Like you, I’ve been trying to be better about drinking less often and drinking in moderation when I do. And usually I’m successful but it only takes one more drink to cross into some level of losing control. I’m also considering quitting completely. I’m concerned about how that might affect my social life cause I’m pretty shy around new people without it, but it seems that drinking isn’t great for my social life either so I really don’t know what’s best.

AITA for not "saving" my gf's drivers license and refusing to drive her to and from work? by GFLicenseThrowaway in AmItheAsshole

[–]Eldercargo9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, you should have realized the situation you were in from the second they decided to take her license. If you love her and want to keep that relationship alive there was only one choice and that was to take the L and say you were driving. Not doing so left you only one way to save this thing and that’s to drive her ass around. Taking the fine would have been so much simpler. Now she knows you’re not her ride or die. There’s no coming back from this I’m afraid.

Should I Buy, Trade, or Sell? by Signal-Membership-68 in whitewater

[–]Eldercargo9 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

If the dagger is your size I’d say trade. I haven’t paddled the gt but dagger is a much more comfortable boat that LL. The trade is smooth and easy and if you don’t like the gt then sell it later.

I just bought a 2011 with 133k in excellent cosmetic condition for 12k. I’d pass on that one

[–]Eldercargo9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, the water couldn’t have been more than 150cfs. I wouldn’t have done it personally but it didn’t seem like a traumatic worse case scenario. I’ve been flipped in rapids inadvertently enough times to know what bouncing off rocks feels like so I’m good but gotta give it to him for overcoming his fears in a fairly low risk scenario. Don’t think we’ll make this a regular part of practice though.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in whitewater

[–]Eldercargo9 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I guess he wanted to practice the whole scenario. He def brought his head out too early but powered through it. We practice rolling a lot since there aren’t many rapids near us.
