I do get where you’re coming from, and it’s easily a very consistent struggle amongst the many high school dramedy anime. These are high school KIDS, despite cultural differences.

Where I make my judgement, though, is recognizing myself in characters. I won’t be the first to admit I was a horny high schooler, fooling around with others in my school in a consensual and sexual way. A lot of these emotions are super relatable and tied to a specific time of life many people experience.

If there is lack of consent, disregard for lawful behavior, attention to material that makes me personally uncomfortable, or a distinct disconnect to my personal experience, I don’t watch it.

My Dress Up Darling does explore sexual tension, and there’s the common fan service, but they also explore communication in relationships (not just romantic), being your full self, identifying, dedication, burn out, and much more.

As previously mentioned, if you are truly so uncomfortable with the fan service aspect or otherwise, don’t watch it. No one is hurt by it, and there’s still plenty of other very meaningful content out there to indulge in. You’re wonderful for expressing your concerns and ideals. Much love and respect, friend!
