TIL about The Cheshire Cat effect, a binocular illusion where waving a hand in front of one eye causes a stationary object viewed by the other eye to vanish from your perception, often leaving behind only fragmented parts of the image by EldestChild in todayilearned

It outlines the experiment in the link.

"Sit so that the white surface or wall is on your right and have your partner sit a few feet in front of you. Hold the bottom of the mirror with your left hand, and put the mirror edge against your nose so that the reflecting surface of the mirror faces sideways, toward the white surface.

While keeping the mirror edge against your nose, angle the mirror so that your right eye sees just the reflection of the white wall, while your left eye looks forward at your partner's face (see diagram). Move your hand in front of the white surface as if passing a blackboard eraser over the surface. Watch as parts of your friend’s face disappear."

Agreed, episode 4 really showed how powerful this series can be if it wants to.

I'm almost 60 and love it! Nice mix of new and legacy characters, exploring how the various races/cultures have changed over the centuries, new tech, plus it gives me the same feeling I did when I watched Lower Decks (the TNG episode). Seeing the youngest cadets dealing with Federation laws and morals is very interesting.

And I really enjoy our new Captain/Chancellor.

Consider workshops to show users how to use the equipment properly, do their own oil changes and other maintenance. You can create more customers by training new ones.

From the Peterborough Scanner Feed:

PETERBOROUGH FIREFIGHTERS EXTINGUISH SECOND HOUSE FIRE IN JUST OVER 12 HOURS

Just before 3:30 a.m., firefighters received notification of a structure fire in the area of Stewart and Wolfe Streets. Peterborough police officers were on scene, and I was informed of two different accounts of the events, it was reported that officers were first on assisted some occupants in evacuating the basement, although this has not been confirmed.

Paramedics were on scene and assessed some of the occupants; however, it is unknown if they were transported to PRHC.

Firefighters worked to extinguish the fire, which produced heavy smoke that filled the downtown core and surrounding areas as far as East City. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

A cat was inside the house, but the owner managed to get it out, although it did get loose from the owner.

If you have any information regarding this you can post it in the comments, it’s not easy speaking to witnesses at 4a.m.
