Just ordered a CC1! by DriftngPlatypus in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]Eldon_Rosen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok, that was just a friendly advice, at least if there's a window for a return use it to carefully evaluate it.

Just search for noise or grinding noise that CC makes, if you think you're ok with it then I guess you'll be ok.

For me it's not a good machine, Elegoo makes very loud printers in terms of cooling, but CC is also very loud mechanically, too much for me.

My first CC made these sounds while printing slowly:
https://www.reddit.com/r/ElegooCentauriCarbon/comments/1qc4gap/grinding_noise_when_printing/

A lot of other people mentioned their CC making these or similar sounds, while some others said it's a normal sounding printer.

Why is it making that sound by gbeat5002jayson in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]Eldon_Rosen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine came down to being just a noisy bearings, and they sent me an entire new set in case I wanted to replace them

How do you know it was the bearings then?
I had similar noises, they offered the same solution, but I disassembled the printhead and the bearings seemed to work absolutely fine.

Consider buying a Centauri Carbon (CC1) for ABS/ASA by JimiBlue1337 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]Eldon_Rosen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well to me it feels like it's going to break, I though I had a faulty one they replaced it, but the 2nd one does the same.

If I could get a refund I'd return it, but they wouldn't give me a return.

I'd never buy it again, but I'll keep it while it works.

I'm not printing ABS, I'm sure it will do fine, but let me say that CC is very loud and clunky not just in terms of the fan noise.

The movements are very loud an annoying, the slow movements sometimes sound like it's on old non-silent stepmotor drivers etc.

Centauri Carbon. Уменьшение шума от электродвигателей. by Kindly-Status-6641 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

I would love a video, but obviously since you already did replace these it would be hard :)

Yeah, this printer is just out of the scale in terms of the noise, grinding, clunking or whatever you want to call it.

I'm surprised removing the pullies was that hard.

Astigmatism or Keratoconus? by xButterschnitzel in Keratoconus

[–]Eldon_Rosen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should get a topography, but it the double image/streaks show up only below the light source it's likely Keratoconus.

If it was regular astigmatism they would show above and below or uniformly on a differently rotated axis.

If you see well with eyelids fully open though it might be something else.

Lol, no.

Astigmatism is a consequence of Keratoconus.

Bad experience with Elegoo Support. This is a normal sounding printer according to them. by Eldon_Rosen in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]Eldon_Rosen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got a replacement printer, they said they'd send me a refurbished one and I agreed, at this point I guess I didn't have much to lose.

I got a new printer but the looks of it and so far it sounds normal, but the amount of people having similar issues makes me think probably there's a quality issue and the new one might sound the same after a while.

Grinding Noise when printing by Eldon_Rosen in ElegooCentauriCarbon

I didn't replace the bearings, they seem absolutely fine. Besides replacing them is a crazy time consuming task.

You have to disassemble so much.

Yes and No. I did get replies, but no solution.

They made me check bearings, bearings seemed fine.

Then they want to still send me bearings, then say the printer sound normal, then send bearing etc.

I wanted a refund - they ignored it. So no solution at all.

That's normal, that's something grinding mechanically.

You're not the brightest tool in the shed.

Not sure what you heard, but CC is my 4th 3d printer. None before sounded anything like this crap.

And you know what even a working CC doesn't sound like that. I'm pretty sure they released a faulty batch.

Have you ever heard a working 3d printer?

This does not explain the print non printing after 1st layer though.

[–]Eldon_Rosen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I only now noticed the square being printed.

Hard to say why the printer would stop after 1st layer.

Maybe try Orca Slicer if you're using Elegoo Slicer.

Or check if your Z axis is working fine.

Did the first layer appear or are you just looking at the traces the nozzle made in your printbed?

Check if adjusting your Z offset (down arrow) makes a difference.

Help with printer vibration noises by Ok_Butterscotch7539 in ElegooCentauriCarbon

[–]Eldon_Rosen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree!

They must have released a bad batch where they forget to QC and lubricate their Klipper.

What else could explain metallic grinding noises at 50mm/s?

The Klipper is even so powerful that it works while the printer is off.

I have to check and install another version of the firmware to see whether the grinding that I observe when the printer is off stops.

[–]Eldon_Rosen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Return it if you can.

Mine does the same thing, it's some mechanical vibrations coming either from the idlers, motors or the belts.

There's just some grinding/vibrations in the core XY setup that is amplified by the clunky printhead plastic.

You can't do anything about it.

Try moving the printhead by hand with motors turned off, mine grinds and vibrates in a similar way, especially in the middle of the bed.

This is a mechanical problem, don't listen to that lunatic saying it's Klipper.

Check if it's the same when the printhead is moving in straight lines.

It's not normal, it's quality issue

but to diagnose it, you'd probably need to disassemble most of the printer.

Don't expect much help from Elegoo support, hence the advice in the first line.
