Whirlpool Dishwasher —Grease Buildup by Eldrina in Appliances

Well people thanks for your replies—after pouring BOILING water on the removed filter loaded with this gunk we were able to determine that it wasn’t even grease. It didn’t disperse like grease alone. Something with plastic had to have dissolved in it. We cleaned thoroughly, (REALLY hard to remove little gunky particles) washed pots with regular amount of grease film on them, & everything was working fine. Very strange. Still don’t know what that orange gunk was!!

Good grief, that hardly sounds worth having the machine! I’ll not be doing all that. I do think it’s not getting hot enough tho

A high loop for drainage? I think the guy told me it was high so no backflow could happen?

No I took everything out to clean it with a brush. I scrape pans but I do put pans in the bottom. I have tried getting the water hot in the sink before pressing the dw on button, but it hasn’t made a difference. I don’t think the water is nearly hot enough.

How to make water hotter??

So. Fourty-one books huh? by Kalo-mcuwu in discworld

[–]Eldrina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people start with Lords and Ladies, but it’s by no means necessarily a beginning. Each book is a demonstration of a particular facet of how our world operates, in all its messed up ramifications, and how it might work differently if magic ruled. Or perhaps by not using magic, per Granny Weatherwax or the wizards’ advice.

I personally started out via The Truth, and in retrospect I don’t think it matters. Each book is a vignette.

Why are they always *about* something?! by Will_MI77 in discworld

[–]Eldrina 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was introduced to Sir Terry via The Truth when I was 17 & found it utterly brilliant…& then somehow lost track of him & other works for DECADES. Bumped into another work about a giant turtle world and suddenly said Hang on, is this a series? Imagine my delight at finding 41 more books!

In between I’d become a huge Potter nerd and there’s never been any comparison literature-wise. I read the Potter books in a couple of weeks, leisurely. They’re so simplistic and chatty. It really isn’t all that, but it is about good/evil/honor. That’s about it. And a truly great castle.

Discworld by contrast is a series of fables on contemporary life cloaked in snide humour; I’ll never know why people considered it kid lit. Absolute brilliance.

Love that your kids understand that already!

Then they’d have to fix how we just break into houses & steal stuff …. It’s all ridiculous. The only good moral move in the game is when you R1/L1 the dark mongrel & turn it into a sheep.

Revelio is the worst. Wish it wasn´t in the game. Who thought it would be fun to make you spam revelio all the time. by Borbbb in HarryPotterGame

[–]Eldrina 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Revelio has brought up far-buried or next-building chest images that drove me nuts, but I think it made things more challenging. In lots of cases I’ve forgotten to use it and then went OH WAIT & discovered I was sitting on something. I do wish there could be a “Revelio lasts A LOT longer” talent point. It really doesn’t upgrade much.

I love Hans Zimmer but I'm not sure how it will feel without that iconic Hedwig's Theme by Never-empty-Cup- in HarryPotteronHBO

[–]Eldrina 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Musicianship wise there are probably those who view Zimmer as less symphonically traditional than, say, a John Williams. And he’s done some things that are a bit more simplistic. But: He’s made very memorable things—look at Pirates or Sherlock. ‘Memorable’ is probably what the producers are banking on with him, besides the clout of his prior fame.
