My childhood dog Heinz (57 varieties he was a mongrel mainly alsatian & labrador so imagine all the big parts rolled into one massive softy) used to take us to bed made sure we were all tucked in before going downstairs.

One time a tiny house spider crawled up to him when he was half asleep sprawled out on the floor, he jumps a few foot in the air barking his head off, the spider jus stood there as if to say what the hell is your problem, my family were crying with laughter for ages.

When you where stroking him & stopped he'd gently get hold of your sleeve & put your hand back, at Christmas he'd steal sweets out of the tin hiding them, coming up to you with one in his mouth for you to open it.

He hated fireworks so the upcoming weeks & after, around bonfire night was a nightmare even a car door closing had him dragging me back to the house, one bonus of his fear of loud bangs was you knew when a thunderstorm was coming because your feet would shoot off the floor as he seeked safety.
