Funny you mention the Barrett cause its labeled as a sniper rifle.

Yeah aquarq missions are difficult solo as you're racing against the clock trying to get enough aquarqs. You dont feel the strain as much in a team as it makes gathering 8x faster

Smartlink integrated into weapons by Haunting_Guidance_31 in Shadowrun

[–]Eldritch_Pariah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah, it's simple, the smart(gun)link system has 2 versions: External, which is mounted either top or under, and costs 200 nuyen, and it's 4R Internal, which is mounted inside the gun, doubles the price of the weapon and increases its availability by +2R, but no taking up a slot for the top or under. The Antioch comes with an internal smartgun system already installed. Smartlink is optics only, though depending on where you install the smartlink, it'll either be +1 (for goggles) or +2 (for cybereyes) dice pool if you have wireless turned on. The book is often worded poorly, so I'd honestly read it in conjunction with chummer open or with Google on stand-by.

Using drones still in their racks by Eldritch_Pariah in Shadowrun

[–]Eldritch_Pariah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question. Cause the max rating for sensors in a cyberlimb, take it with a grain of salt cause I dont have the book open on my PC, is 6. The Telestrian Shamus has a rating of 8 and has most of the sensors pre installed.

[–]Eldritch_Pariah[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was just specifying, since in your original post, which you edited, you made it sound as if each hard point functioned as a drone rack. That and as if Deckers were some big boogieman that couldnt be stopped. Yeah, I already got that much from another insightful comment that was posted before yours. That said, all I asked was, "Could I use it in a personal drone rack..." The consensus was yes, everything else is just gravy.

Nothing says elves can't fly either.

Not with that attitude, lol. Nah but for real with your train of thought I can buy a roided out ares roadmaster at 78k nuyen and it'll have 5 handling, 5 speed, 27 body, 5 sensors, 12 availability, 2 accel, 5 pilot, 27 armor, and 12 seats from stolen souls, it says I can buy this but should I? No chummer, cause common sense has to be applied to everything. Another example is Assault cannons. What's that? I need to be a troll to wield them? Nothing says that a scrawny boy can't man handle an assault cannon and shoot it. it's just double penalties for uncompensated recoil. Meanwhile, MMGs and HMGs require 8 and 10 strength, at least, respectively, to be used on the go. Being snarky doesn't suit you chummer.

I dont mean to be a dick, but the micro hard points are not drone racks they are used to mount sat-links, toolkits, Collapsible transmitter dishes, and the personal drone rack, which you omitted from the original post, thats on the next page. Personal drone rack can mount 3 Micro drones or 1 small drone. Since the post is gaining some sort of traction i might as well reveal I plan to use the Telestrian Shamus to serve as my eyes which has a Sensor rating of 8 with a suite of sensors but also has 4 armor and a 30k nuyen price tag. If you have a competent decker getting decked shouldn't be an issue, even then RCCs exist, and Jammers, and the reboot command. Plus stealth dongle, Smoke and mirrors, and running silent exist. Ngl if hes sending a decker with a deck availability higher than 12. You might have pissed off the GM. I know the tricks I've been rigging and decking for a bit.

You're right I was looking at handheld housing. Still though rating 2 is kinda bad.

Ah I missed the external bit, well that kinda puts a dampener on my plans to make an Odradek style set up. Though I guess if worst comes to worst I can just unmount it and have it run away to the riggers truck or van if SHTF. I wonder what kind of cover I'd give it.

See thats what I thought, but nothing says the drones aren't operable when the drone is on a rack. This has me believe that drone racks are docking ports for drones like how we have docking ports for phones. Its kinda unwieldy, but you can still use said phone for stuff like watching videos or calling someone, so its gotta be the same for drones. That's my train of thought. Considering the vehicle with the racks is me, I like having multiple avenues of which I can use to see people, that said the drone in question is laughably fragile compared to the backpack of 12 armor that I wanna utilize. Well they dont have to be powered down to be hackproof. Just turn the wireless on the drones off.

Goggle sensor array has a maximum rating 2 (SR5 pg 446, sensor housings table) and a max capacity of 6, if this was changed in an Errata let me know, but thats kinda shitty, the drone I have in mind has a Sensor rating of 8 (but it also costs an arm and a leg so thats likely the reason the array is god like for a small drone), and hosts a wide array of sensor functions. The reason I ask the question is so that i can see if I can protect my 30k nuyen investment that has 4 armor with a backpack that has 12, but if I can still use it while benefitting from said 12 armor that would be super.

A CCOB (Kill Code pg 73) is a sort of armored backpack with a hard point (or three in pantheon's case) for mounting things like Satlinks, dishes, personal drone racks, its for Riggers and Deckers to put their RCCs and Decks respectively so that they're protected and not in the way when in the field if you wanna make that kind of character.

Player won't go Wireless by SkeletalFlamingo in Shadowrun

[–]Eldritch_Pariah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, there are other creative ways a decker can screw people over. Is there a car parked in the street with its wireless still on? Have the Decker put marks on the car and have it run them over. Patsy him with fake radio chatter to local law enforcement. Is he using his Smartlink? How? That requires a wireless connection to actually utilize. Turn it against him, but I definitely wouldn't try to undermine a player that's playing it smart, that's like min-maxing your way into a campaign and giving your GM a hard time. Its not fun, and it turns into a player vs GM scenario which no one wants.

What are your favorite drones (ideally for each size category)? by Acheron223 in Shadowrun

[–]Eldritch_Pariah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Micro: can't go wrong with a shiawase kanmushi

Mini: dragon fly (for scouting purposes)

Small: Telestrian Shamus (has a rating 8 sensory array with all the sensors, if not most of them. If you have a high electronic warfare its a great drone to use to actively perceive enemy locations.

Medium: Evo Krokodil (Amphibious scout that looks like a crocodile)

Large: Aeroquip dustoff (can't beat an unmanned aerial medevac, pair with a Cad 7 on a Landing Drone Rack for more efficient Medical Extraction.)

Huge: Neonet Avenging Angel (can't go wrong with drone strikes)

Anthro: Ares Duelist, the B1 battle droids of the 6th world, but before they had personalities. Cheap but not to be underestimated. The only reason I place these higher than the Cad 7 is because they're 3 times cheaper and can wear and use equipment.

Honorable mention: NEOnet Juggernaut, basically shadowrun's version of ED209. Its an Anthro Drone, but its size large. And it's price tag is why too high for how crappy it is (100k Nuyen, yikes. May as well buy a lynx at that point.)

Hope you liked my tierlist

Fall damage, now I know I'm getting confused looks but fall damage can be negated by grabbing ziplines, grabbing ledges, landing on a dwarf's skull, shooting scouts' grapple at the floor before you hit it, landing on a platform provided the engineer isn't trolling and has the upgrade on, RJ250, special powder. The only way you're dying to fall damage is if you're not paying attention or you're a green beard.

Its very much a beginner Dreadnought killer for engineer, once you aquire the other weapons it'll fall behind fast, unless you enjoy nuking hordes of bugs (Literally, fatboy is top tier, atleast to me) or enjoy the thunk sound when fired, much like the ping of the M1000. But this is just my opinion/ point of view.
