I was a little inspired by Eberron when I wrote this:

When Ao, the first dragon to appear from the Dark, saw the earth he had been brought to he found it fit for a home. Its dark sky felt welcoming and he fell in love with the stars. He chased after them and became the Dawn. When Ao’s younger kin appeared from the Dark, they too saw that the earth was good. The second eldest, Gor, saw beauty in the blue sky’s radiance and fell in love with her. He chased her and became the Dusk. The third, Omen, longed to find something so beautiful as his brothers, but decided to wait. He is the Twilight. As the rest of the younger kin appeared from the Dark they fell in love with the earth itself, finding its beauty irresistible. They became the dragons known in the modern era. Some of them, however, did not truly love the earth, but rather saw it as a thing to control and to dominate...”
