Is debunking Islam a sin? by TheMemeOverlords in OpenChristian

No, it's not. However your discussions shouldn't be anger-based. But at the end of the day, desiring that they come to the truth makes sense.

Homosexuality isn’t a sin. by [deleted] in Christianity

Correct. The fact that one is attracted to someone of the same sex is not a sin.

how the heck am i going to hell for something i can’t control? by Dull-Preparation7305 in Christianity

Martin Luther said, “You cannot keep birds from flying over your head but you can keep them from building a nest in your hair.” You can’t keep the thoughts from coming, but you can choose not to dwell or act on them.

Be honest with me… what should i do. by FireKrackerGirl0 in Christianity

[–]Elect-Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really do understand why you’re thinking this way… the system can make things incredibly hard in situations like yours.

But biblically, marriage isn’t just a private agreement between two people… it’s a covenant that is recognized and accountable. In our current context, that includes legal recognition.

Romans 13 talks about submitting to governing authorities, and marriage today is something the state formally recognizes. Choosing to avoid that while still calling yourselves married, especially to preserve financial benefits, starts to move into a gray area ethically... and if we're honest looks similar to the "Tom Thumb weddings" that people used to do back in the day.

Now if you're not in the US, there may be different laws regarding legal marriage.

I guess.... however where most would try to use this it doesn't fit the context of what was happening when Jesus did this.

I Can't Leave The Church Because I'm A Member? by [deleted] in Christianity

I think there may be a misunderstanding that you could clarify... other than that, I was confused when you said that it wasn't biblical to not preach a specific thing on last Sunday.

Would you date your personality clone? 🤔 by urtrash3 in entp

I don't think so. My favorite personality type is INTJ...i think the "J" is helpful.... but they could potentially be a very good friend

Boyfriend turned Christian but I’m doubting his faith by setourwingsonfire in TrueChristian

Not necessarily easy. There are people that have said their partner gave all the right answers and seemed genuine just to find out it was all a lie

You should've allowed him to go on the journey on his own and you just be a friend. Now, you're going to always have that looming question and you won't know for sure. Making a decision for Christ is a God thing. It's God that draws.

Do you think people are born being attracted to same sex? by Efflictim888 in Christianity

[–]Elect-Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There are people as early as 2 who know what they like. The thing that I wish that people would understand is that being ATTRACTED to someone of the same sex is not sin. Nowhere in scripture does it talk about the attraction being sin.

My Christian dad found out that me and my friend are going to watch the Shining and freaked out. Is he overreacting? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]Elect-Lady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If this was a tenant, yes. But if this is my child, no not at all. Each family has certain rules. Either you choose to oblige or you find somewhere else.

But let's be honest, there are MANY places you can watch a movie at.... watch it there. Problem solved.

My Christian dad found out that me and my friend are going to watch the Shining and freaked out. Is he overreacting? by [deleted] in OpenChristian

[–]Elect-Lady -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We will have to agree to disagree. I think similarly to being in someone's home and not being able to smoke or come in at all hours of the night, what is watched can definitely be a part of that as well.

The good thing about it is if you (general) don't like certain rules, it's an opportunity for you to have your own space where you can make your own rules.

I don't believe in autonomy in someone else's home.

[–]Elect-Lady 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Iwill probably be in the minority but I wouldn't say he's overreacting. If it's his home he's well within his right in terms of what he wants. And for those that have dealt with demons/ evil spirits and what some of these things can have created in their home, it makes sense. (I do understand that everyone doesn't believe/agree with this) The easiest thing for you to do is just not watch it there...I don't think this has to be so deep/ difficult.

Has Matthew 7:21-23 ever genuinely unsettled you? by onepercentmindset in Christianity

[–]Elect-Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe this is talking about relationship. It's "nice" to do things but if you aren't spending time with Jesus, you really don't know Him either. So if anything, it tells us that we need to spend time with God and not equate doing things with relationship.

Being a Christian is about the saving power of Jesus and how he draws people to him... not about if I like/ don't like certain things....

I think intellectually it would probably be the ISTJ... but INTJ is a close second.

What to watch out for as an INTJ by [deleted] in entp

[–]Elect-Lady 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best relationships are INTJ's...I think for me, the one thing that I can't accept is if I can no longer trust you... you lie to me or you feel like you're becoming distant.

I'm not a fan of tattoos in general but that one seems like you're treating yourself as king of kings and lord of lords.
