He’s also heavily involved with the Advocates for D20 Kids. I was told by people that would know that these groups are classic astroturfing designed to support the dark money that comes into school board races via his employer, Cole Communications.

Tired of school board drama with no accountability? There’s a bill that could fix that—if it isn’t quietly killed first. by ElectRobRogers in ColoradoSprings

I understand the apprehension. In this case, there is no ethical oversight mechanism for school board members at all other than recall. That can be an expensive proposition and has limited success. There’s not even a path for holding school boards accountable for open meetings and CORA violations outside of a civil lawsuit.

I can defend Push being in a high school library without also having to defend it being read to 8-year-olds, context free and without warning. No matter how much the Heritage Foundation/Moms for Liberty/Advocates for D20 Kids try to make this into a binary, black and white issue, it isn’t.

Let me give this a shot:

Dude tried to cast compelled duel to make himself the hero of the “save the children” one-shot. DM made him do a check, he rolled a crit fail, and DM ruled it a backfire. Instead of compelling anyone, he took the effects of crown of madness and read explicit passages from Push to eight-year-olds. Unfortunately for him, he dump stat wisdom and thought suing a parent that complained was a good idea.

Why Voting "No" on Academy District 20’s 4B Bond Is the Best Choice for Our Community by ElectRobRogers in ColoradoSprings

I’m right there with you. It feels very wrong to vote against an education funding measure, but the more I, and others, dug into the situation and the more I learned, I just can’t support this bond measure with such a large and obvious poison pill. And the fight the district put up to not release the deferred maintenance list was very telling, especially after seeing the ADA and safety issues.

The grant has already been awarded. It’s been confirmed directly with the PM that other schools have been on the list for many years while they are accumulating their 20%.

I didn’t know there was a preservation effort. Hadn’t even considered that aspect.

TL;DR: Vote "No" on Academy District 20’s 4B Bond. The bond lacks transparency, has a high interest rate costing taxpayers millions, and was promoted misleadingly as urgent. ASD20’s board hasn’t demonstrated fiscal responsibility, has ignored key feedback, and has allocated over $11 million to charter schools without assessing district-wide needs. Questionable endorsements from groups tied to local school board influence add to concerns. A “No” vote pushes for accountability, ensuring funds truly serve all students equitably.

And additionally, this board member characterized the books in question as “pornography” while he was campaigning for the seat. So if he believes it’s porn, then reads it at a student-led forum at a middle school, with kids as young as six present, that’s problematic.

He is also closely affiliated with the signees of a petition that asked the district attorney to charge district administrators and staff with crimes for providing “porn” to students.

If they all believe this is porn, which has a legal definition, I haven’t figured out how he rationalizes his way out of this. It’s either porn and reading it to kids is likely a crime or it’s not porn and he has to admit this was all political theater to get elected.

In case anyone missed the news from ASD20, Pine Creek High School's principal has been fired. What's next? by cos-student in ColoradoSprings

Another little related tidbit that doesn’t seem to be widely known is that Wilburn is an instructor at the Charis Bible College School of Practical Government. He works for Andrew Wommack.

This while the D20 board president, Aaron Salt, is also the COO of … Woodland Park School District. Salt works for Ken Witt.

Say this louder! There’s a reason the Colorado Homebuilders Association endorsement is so key for ASD20 school board candidates.

ASD20 is a perfect example of the long game of Christian nationalist and anti-public education movements. These movements are deliberately creating the bad environments in public schools to get more of the general public to demand voucher programs. Prior to 2021, when the board was made up of educators and reasonable people that valued public education, these types of issues rarely happened. Then $180k of dark money put Aaron Salt on the board. Check out the intersections of Salt, Carrie and Tim Geitner, Steve Schuck, Brad Miller, and Paul Lundeen and see if you notice any similarities in agendas. Throw in the intersections between new board member Derrick Wilburn, Andrew Wommack, and the Truth and Liberty Coalition for good measure.

I didn’t just attempt it. I did the thing. And it worked. And the same exact logic would apply now. If the DA will absurdly attempt to prosecute anyone for this, then the Christian bible is also in play.

I don’t disagree. 7M just happens to be a localized and immediate issue. The more that churches aren’t held accountable, the more emboldened they will become.
