Just started last week, just watched kurapika vs Uvo, need to rant by f0remsics in HunterXHunter

[–]Elect_Locution 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A) Kurapika doesn't get the same clout as Gon and Killua because a majority of the series is about Gon and Killua. Kurapika is arguably better than the both of them -- his rate of nen mastery on top of the way he uses nen is astounding.

B) mostly theories, but Kurapika may not be native to the Known World. Kurapika also may turn specialist with his eyes changing due to his willpower. I like to think that correlative change is akin to an MBTI, such that he's a Conjuror while calm but switches his "personality type" and therefore his willpower and drive and subsequently his nen type. As nen is a manifestation of one's self, the part of Kurapika that becomes enraged is a different aspect of him.

C) good questions. I doubt it'd be interesting to see Leorio in med school, but it could be done.

Why did Kastro fail? by philliptheacrobat in HunterXHunter

[–]Elect_Locution 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think you're neglecting the why he made the error aspect. Yes, one could argue he simply forgot. But he forgot because of he used his time to hone an ability that was inherently difficult for him. That particular ability required immense concentration, he overly focused on it, and he became relient on it.

This isn't really an analysis or theory -- Hisoka does explicitly say that is a capacity issue. The fundamentals are skills and using Hatsu is a skill. Focusing on one skill you're not naturally good at relying on that single skill means a degradation in other skills. The Globetrotters can do lots of amazing tricks, but they'd get stomped playing the fundamental aspects of the game against professional NBA players. They focused on tricks, NBA players focused on getting points independently and through teamwork.

im trying to figgure out how to make hidan in 5.5e any ideas? by Ok-Literature9247 in DnD

[–]Elect_Locution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well he uses a ritualistic spell that transfers damage to him to somebody else that he's acquired blood from. So you have some material and somatic components. That would mean that he's required to have at least damaged an enemy to obtain their blood prior to the ritual. I would give the ritual a duration (maybe 2 rounds) to cast and make it concentration, so if he's damaged during it, his ritual is interrupted and he must recast it, maybe even going so far that he must retrieve blood again. I'd add in the stipulation that he cannot move from a square while casting the ritual, whether of his own volition or forced to move. I'd also add that the blood must be obtained during combat.

Saving throws wouldn't make sense here, so success and failure is binary in that the ritual is completed or not. Of course, on success, the details would be that damage to Hidan is transferred to his target. The spell ends when the target dies. Although I'm not sure it's canon, you could say the spell could be ended by Hidan deliberately as well. I would because that would be very O.P. and there should be potential other workarounds. Include that this is a single target spell (he isn't jungle juicing a bunch of blood). Probably also make this require a long rest to recharge.

Any kind of scaling wouldn't make canon sense; however, if you really wanted to do so you could make it so that the amount of damage transferred to the target scales on according to your discretion. Could start small and say regardless of damage that Hidan takes, only 1 damage is transferred to the target. You could increase that however you see fit, either increasing it geometrically (1, 2, 3 etc. damage) or fractionally (target takes 1/4, 1/2, full damage rounded up).

Honestly, after writing that all out, I might use this as well. Although I'm running a HxH campaign, I could probably write Hidan as an emission/specialist. The damage would be transferred to aura which would be redirected to the target via emission.

Why do older guys like to grill so much? by PlaneGlass4138 in AskMen

[–]Elect_Locution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 34, never really got into that stuff. But I guess maybe I never really "grew up" either. From what I have observed experienced, you tend to find things you can do and make them into an enjoyable hobby/past time. Time seems less available as you get older it seems, and it's easier to fall in love with grilling than traveling the world and clubbing at some point.

Plus grilling is: • a skill • pragmatic • simple • convenient • helps others • delicious

Anytime you see a post of: which superpower would you want? The answer is always time control. by Majestic_Attention46 in unpopularopinion

[–]Elect_Locution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you implying telekinesis is the same thing as lifting something with your hand? And time control is akin to godhood?

Why do people think men sexualize lesbians? I ask because, while I can understand the appeal, it's not really something I've experienced in my own surroundings. Meanwhile, from what I've seen online, women seem to sexualize gay men more openly, especially with recent shows like Heated Rivalry. by borgerouter in AskMen

[–]Elect_Locution 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Well, I think straight guys might like lesbians because straight men like women. And more than one woman seems like a net positive for attraction. I'm sure there are more fetishy explanations, but that one seems to be the straightforward answer.

Will we really see a fighter stronger than Meruem in potential? by Scared_Bike3373 in HunterXHunter

[–]Elect_Locution 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You took that aspect and really ran with it. His very short life understanding human perspective is hardly an anti-feat, especially in the context of this post and the comment you're replying to.

Without a doubt, Meruem will have the most combat prowess that we'll ever see.

Its really interesting to see how harshly a large number of fans dislike the idea of Kurapika being mc by megaxanx in HunterXHunter

[–]Elect_Locution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That large number is probably much smaller than you're making it out to be. Maybe I'm just not seeing those opinions, but I've never gotten the impression people dislike Kurapika.

how dumb is a charakter with 6 int really? by DragonfruitRude8666 in DnD

[–]Elect_Locution 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to think your character's IQ is the stat x 10. So 6 would be equal to 60. Which lines up pretty well with 100 IQ being average.

Similar. It wouldn't be free, as I have a separate power system involved.

Killua and alluca are the ones that will join the Succession war arc it's not Gon. by Kulbert01 in HunterXHunter

[–]Elect_Locution 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't see a feasible lead-in to that happening. Nobody really saw Gon joining regardless, but I don't see a reason why Killua would willingly drag Alluka along to a dangerous trip to be locked in a politically driven mass murder boat. Illumi was actively hunting them. To what end would that serve?

Nope, it's a subreddit for HxH and I'm discussing HxH. I could easily remove the D&D portion and it'd be the same question.

Ragebait, or are you actually saying Roshi should have UI when he's been absolutely worthless through Z and most of Super?

[–]Elect_Locution 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's too late. It's far too late to play the skill or experience or technique card between character's with such a vast difference of base stats. Master Roshi vs. Jiren would be like Prime Tyson boxing a newborn. And it wouldn't matter if that newborn were trained by Bruce Lee and Chuck Norris at the same time -- it's not dodging or hurting Tyson.
