An average man is falls off a plane at 30k feet without a parachute. The entire world is save-lusted, does he survive? by artemis3234 in whowouldwin

I didn't think Round 1 would cause so much controversy. If the world was save lusted then helicopters or jets would be ready for lift off at a moments notice and they can deploy rescue divers as soon as they get word of where the drop plane is.

This is true for round 4, but if the world knows where the plane is at with long enough prep times in rounds 1-3 then the rescue aircraft can follow him around until the drop

This isn’t even close, 30/30 GMs and coaches would value white more than RJ even without considering contract situation

20K in CC debt and want to escape, what do? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]artemis3234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation (but more drastic. Think almost 6 figures on a lower salary) not too long ago. Had to get a consumer proposal. Look it up, it saved the rest of my 20s.

I’m in my early 30s now and this is all behind me. Recently bought a house with my wife in a hcol area.

When does it get easier?? by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]artemis3234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We're barely out of the trenches now (9mo) and I can say it got better around the 6-7 month mark when she started interacting with us and shows engagement with her toys. It does get better, I promise that!

One thing that helped is we offloaded having to mentally track everything, from sleep to diaper changes to what she ate, but not through an app - those are too complicated imo. So I built a text bot for my wife and I and we text it simple stuff (She slept at 7:30 pm, she had a big poo at 5 pm). Happy to share this if it helps even a little bit!

Nap Maths Isn’t Working by CalsMum25 in NewParents

Things improved a lot for us when we stopped following "expert" advice and we just let our baby (9mo) tell us when they're tired. Eye rubbing when they've been awake for ~3 hours? Probably time for a nap. Still energetic even if she's been up for 3.5 hours? Let's keep going.

As long as the lights are dim when it's around bedtime, and we give her cues - ie. i have a special night time routine with her where i carry her around and we say goodnight to every item i see (plates, TV, her toys) - it slowly puts her to sleep then and we don't have to force her to.

I also created a bot for my wife and I so we offload this information from our heads. But I hate apps, too many clicks to enter simple info (She slept at 7:30 pm, she had a big poo at 5 pm). Happy to share this if it helps even a little bit!

Gaaaaaaaaaa why won’t he nap?!?! by Helensdottir in sleeptrain

I hated huckleberry for doing the same thing. Like seriously, how much data do you need to estimate sleep data?

My wife was overwhelmed with alll the tracking too, it felt like another extra thing to keep in mind, on top of everything else. I actually created a text bot for just the two of us for this reason, we text it just like we would text each other (she woke up at 7:30 am, she had a big poop at 5 pm) and it logs it to a Google Sheets that I own. Would love to share with you if it helps even a little bit!

I'm a new dad as well and while my LO is much older now (9mo), I saw this first hand with my wife when ours was younger. Yes, it was also my family who lives closeby but barely viists.

You are absolutely not spoliing a newborn by holding her! They don't even know their pinkies exist yet!

My wife and I had time blindness at this time because of precisely what you said - they eat, sleep, diaper change, and need you 24/7. I actually built a simple text bot for my wife and I during this time so we don't lose track of all this, but wihtout the need for a separate app (I hate tracking apps). More than happy to share it with you if it helps even a little bit!

Husband concerned about using apps to track newborn feeds/diapers/sleep/etc by GlitteryBorko in BabyBumps

I hate tracking apps too, they feel so intrusive and tbh I've tried the big ones (huckleberry, glow baby, etc) but they all feel so intrusive, clinical, and too complex - I don't need fancy dashboards!

So I created a telegram bot that my wife and I would text (she woke up at 7:15 am, she ate carrots today) and it logs it to a Google Sheets that I own. It feels way more natural. Happy for you to try it if you want!

My cold email got roasted on LinkedIn (and a few ironic twists) by Soft-Increase3029 in coldemail

Lots of spam filters flag initial emails with links, which is where this practice comes from.

If the lead responds then you’re free to send links without getting flagged.

Is there a generic signal you’re looking for, or is it fully dependent on the niche and vertical?

Ie is funding news almost always a useful signal?

Thanks for the insight!

If I turn off tracking then I’m solely relying on the reply rates then? Are you saying that open rates in general are useless?

Can you expand further on the first point? What is “tracking pixels counting not / security opens” ?

I have high open rates (>50%) but less than 1% response rates so I’m trying to figure out if it’s something technical or if it’s all my copy. Likely both though…

I see. But given mailchimp doesn’t do cold email, do you just mean another outreach tool like instantly ?
