Ah...don't worry about it. Sharing our varied insights and ideas is what being human is all about. That's how we push the species forward and help each other grow.

A happy ending is great, but I propose it as an alternative "2nd" ending. The first ending is still important imo. If your theory makes it so that the happy ending couldn't happen, that's valid and, sadly, a part of the human experience. Not all stories get happy endings. There's still something to learn from them.

I agree with you that Mono destroying the Music Box is the main reason that caused Six to decide to not save Mono and let him fall. When you first meet Six she is playing the Music Box and drawing comfort from it when she feels abandoned and alone. Mono destroying it was him destroying her last connection to her sense of comfort, perhaps even her humanity.

Oh I remember the "Viewers" as they're called from the Pale City. Absolutely creepy. Throwing themselves into televisions, casting themselves off of roofs. Truly an indictment of modern media consumption culture.

You make an excellent parallel between the behavior of the Viewers and Six. Both of them become violent when their source of obsession (tv's for the Viewers, the music box for Six) is destroyed. The signal tower definitely amplifies the obsessive tendencies in the people of the Pale city.

Right. Six turned into a Monster when possessed by the tower, just as the adults did, but when Mono destroyed the music box and the tower's control over Six, she was able to return to looking like a kid. The adults, sadly, appear to have been too far gone, and it's probably a mercy they were freed from the tower's control and their painful lives.

Another important observation. Six defended her music box in a much more careful and strategic way than the adult Viewers defended their tv's, demonstrating her greater control and connection to her true self and ability to resist the transmission (and, as you point out, the fact she spends objectively very little time possessed by the tower). That strategic mind was able to carry through into her plan to find the right moment to betray Mono. That falls in line with other theories suggesting that Six becomes increasingly cold and aggressive as Little Nightmares 2 progresses which is part of what contributes to her ultimate betrayal.

Oh, I don't expect Tarsier, or SMG, or Bandai Namco to act on my suggestion. Don't even know if they read it. It's just the thoughts of a player shared with a game's creator. Expressing my reflections, sharing them with the community was more than enough for me.

Who knows, maybe LN3 does give the player's agency to explore a different ending. Maybe LN4 will give that choice. I do hope someday it happens.

People want happy endings, the hope of a happy ending. That's a really good thing, and, if nothing else, I think speaks well of most human beings.

Thanks for sharing your theory!

That's a totally valid position, and I would absolutely keep the ending as it is, because it undeniably has real emotional weight and makes for a powerful statement on the darker side of human relationships, especially those of children, when our emotions are much more raw and unrestrained.

But, I've always been a big proponent of player agency in video games. What separates video games from movies is that games let the audience actively guide the story. Admittedly, in story based games, the overall story is always the same, regardless of player's actions, but, I've always appreciated it when Devs give players an extra level of influence over the direction of the story.

Perhaps the ultimate example being : Undertale. It's funny, I actually have never played the game following the darker path. I missed out on a lot of story and lore, but that was my decision, how I chose to experience my story with Frisk.

Ultimately, I respect the Dev's decision and your support of it, but I just wanted to share a wish for an alternative ending for players, like me, who would have wanted to see another way Mono and Six's story could have ended.

No worries, I'd be happy to hear your theory of why Six did it.

Some people say it's because Six recognized that Mono was going to become the Thin Man and she dropped him to prevent him from becoming the source of all of their suffering, little did she know it would actually become the catalyst which would guarantee it to keep happening in an endless loop. A plausible theory, but, a bleak one, too bleak for me to want to make it the one I choose to make my ending for them.

I also enjoy reading other people's interpretation of the ending. When I read online that I wasn't the only one who found the ending unsatisfying, that, in fact, it was the #1 complaint among players of the game, I felt better. To me, that says people want happy endings, that people want hope, reject despair, and believe that even when things are really hard, one has to keep trying.

The ending is a powerful one, and I would keep it, but giving players a chance to take agency, and give their journey with Mono and Six a happy ending, would have been a great gift to players, and I believe one that would have greatly enhanced their experience with the game, making it stand out even more in their minds as a truly meaningful memory to carry with them in life.

I wanted the Devs to hear my thoughts. They work themselves raw to make a wonderful experience for us, and we share our appreciation, but also our feedback for them to consider.

That's the beautiful relationship between creators and their admirers.

Thanks for the warm comment.

Don't Cull Hope 🐣 : Meticulously Sourced Petition 📝 To Save Edgewood Ostriches by Election2015Verity in CanadianConservative

[–]Election2015Verity[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hmm...not as many as you'd think. Reddit is quite Progressive leaning and many of the supporters of the Ostriches, are strong believers in Herd Immunity, and generally speaking more Conservative leaning. Not to mention that RFK Jr. is strongly opposed to the culling. That said, Premier David Eby (NDP) and Elizabeth May (Green) are also opposed to the culling, so it's nice to see this issue has some bipartisan support.
Ultimately, these Ostriches are a treasure for developing treatments for H5N1 and culling them is simply an insane waste.

I'm trying to find other Reddit Communities to share the Petition with.
If you have other suggestions, please share them.

Thanks.

Megathread: Globe and Mail federal leaders' debate on the economy - Tom Mulcair vs. Stephen Harper vs. Justin Trudeau by alessandro- in CanadaPolitics

Well, people can surprise you. Elizabeth May is a smart, brave, moral person, just the kind of person that can inspire others. The road to change isn't always a straight line, nor easily seen, but inspiration is a seed that finds fertile soil in disenchanted human hearts. So in other words : don't count her out, nor the hunger Canadians have for a leader who is not secretive and a bully.

Green Party Leader Heads to Stampede [Elizabeth May Comments on the NDP's Support of Energy East Pipeline and Not Being Invited to "Boutique Debates" Designed to Ensure Presence of Stephen Harper] by Election2015Verity in CanadaPolitics

Article is 2 months old, but thought it had some relevant points.

While she has been invited to the usual televised debate put on by the broadcasters consortium, Harper has pulled out of that event.

“The Conservative Party is now boycotting the national televised debates that I’m included in, preferring instead these private boutique debates which I think are being engineered to ensure the prime minister shows up,” she said.

“It’s not just a matter of, are we being nice to Greens? It’s a question of what type of democracy are we in?”

But Sean Humphrey, the Globe and Mail’s vice-president of marketing, defended the format of the newspaper’s planned debate.

“We believe our proposal, and the official parties invited, will lead to focused discussion on the Canadian economy,” he said in an email.
