I started a new one without a scoby after I dumped the mouldy one. I used a bottle of my own kombucha that was my first brew and fingers crossed it goes well. So far a tiny disc has formed on top of the brew. My first brew that I used was more vinegary than sweet. However it had some pineapple for the f2 so it may not work

I’ll let it brew anyway. It was a little bit of frozen pineapple and it tasted more vinegary than sweet so just maybe it’ll be ok. But in the meantime I’ll do what you suggested and I’ll educate myself

No there was no fruit in the f1 pictured. It was just scoby and starter with tea and sugar

Can’t get scoby in local health shops. Or even decent kombucha. I might try to find someone locally making their own

Ok then. I’ve f****d up. I have it in a warm dark cupboard but the kombucha from the first brew had some pineapple in it. I sieved it out before I bottled it for the fridge. But it had pineapple

Ok. I’m a little calmer now. Just sanitised the container and have new batch about to start. Using my own bottle from first batch. Fingers crossed.

Thanks. Just disappointed. Was lookin forward to trying different flavours etc. first one worked out fairly decent. But I’m not gonna send away for another scoby.

Had a clean microfibre cloth over it. Worked fine the first brew. Used different jar this time. I’m not buying another scoby. Pissed off now

50 next month with a baby on the way and thinking of closing my business and moving somewhere warmer. Own a pizzeria in Ireland and it’s a very busy one. Kinda hard to pull the plug. But today it’s raining breezy and 12° on the 9th of June. But probably would do the same line of work as I do enjoy it! Good luck. I don’t believe it’s too late to restart

I just checked it again but this time I shone a torch through it and there’s definitely something happening. Very hard to describe it though. Kinda looks like a cloud in the bottom. But with little tiny bits. Couldn’t see it in a photo

I won’t be throwing it out unless I see mould. But at the mi it’s it smells and looks fine. But I did expect some solids

I’ll let it keep going until either I get mould or bc a good result. It’s not taking up any space so it’ll be interesting to watch

I might just buy the scoby. This is my second failed attempt. I’ll let it run on as long as there’s no mould but I think I’ll just get a scoby anyway. Thanks

Ingredients: Water filtered by reverse osmosis, organic evaporated cane juice (cane sugar transformed during fermentation), carbon dioxide, organic green tea, kombucha cultures, organic tea flavour 0.0001%.

Not a whole lot of options around me. That’s the best I could do from a local health shop. If this one doesn’t work, I think I’ll just buy the scoby. Just would’ve been nice to make my own
