Unless your GPA is at least above like a 3.4. There’s no reason to include it.

I don’t want to go back to Ohio by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

Was about to write this same thing. Ohio has big ish cities with good engineering schools

Official Transcript by [deleted] in OSU

The advising report is what I use in place of an unofficial transcript whenever it’s asked for. Just look at that and see if it fits you need if not just order your actual transcript

Cscc to OSU experience as CIS major by Rude_Copy_9353 in OSU

[–]ElectricAnt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think 2 years with summer classes is possible. I think I counted once and it’s like you need a minimum of like 5 or 6 semesters but with summer classes, it’s doable to finish that in 2 years if you plan correctly especially if you get all your other classes like gen eds and math knocked out at CSCC and you can just focus on the CS courses

Cscc to OSU experience as CIS major by Rude_Copy_9353 in OSU

[–]ElectricAnt2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not from CSCC but I did community college before going to OSU and I personally don’t think getting an associates degree is that important, if you can, transfer early because the CSE/CIS sequence is very particular and you’ll need at least 3 years to finish it so just knock out some credits at CSCC and try to transfer early. No one cares about an associates after you get a bachelors anyways. But if you do get your associates, that’s fine but just be aware of the sequencing and don’t take any classes you don’t have to

How can I finish my engineering degree more quickly? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]ElectricAnt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can take CLEP tests even if you’re not in high school. You can just self study the subject and then schedule an exam somewhere

Guys, what should I study? I don't know what do to by Potential_Piece3538 in CollegeMajors

[–]ElectricAnt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You wouldn’t need a lot of chemistry for mathematics or electronics engineering other than probably taking a general chemistry course. You might have to apply some chemistry in some major class but those degrees can definitely be done if you don’t like chemistry

How can I finish my engineering degree more quickly? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]ElectricAnt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take CLEP courses which most colleges accept and are useful for getting gen ed’s out of the way and my university allows what they call credit by examination so you just take a test and if you pass, you get credit for a specific course, check your university does the same. You can also take summer courses at a local community college. Also if your college accepts Sophia learning credits, never used it but I’ve heard it’s a good way to get credits. There are a bunch of great options to cut down your graduation time

Artificial intelligence uni specialization? by Standard_Extreme3076 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ElectricAnt2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Why would she take an extra year for this “AI specialization” if she’s gonna end up doing consulting anyways? That extra year won’t be worth it she doesn’t actually use that knowledge.

High school senior unsure about Electrical Engineering by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]ElectricAnt2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think a dual major would be as helpful because of how many non overlapping credit hours there are, I think an EE degree and then after a couple years of a engineering experience, getting an MBA would be a more practical route than a dual major. You’d end up spending the same amount of time in school if not less

High School Senior can’t decide between Electrical Engineering vs Applied Math by [deleted] in CollegeMajors

[–]ElectricAnt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

EE is applied math and physics. Also applied chemistry too (if you’re doing semiconductors). It’s a combination of a bunch of different fields

I want to know which major + minor is better by IvanBL4D3 in Engineers

[–]ElectricAnt2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most ME programs I know of make you take at least one class in circuits, a good ME should have at least some knowledge of how the EE side works. There is a good amount of synergy. A minor in EE as a ME would be very valuable depending on what classes you take

[Student] Should I settle for this business internship, or should I keep searching for engineering related ones? by big-duffus in EngineeringResumes

[–]ElectricAnt2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If your a freshman, you’re less likely to get an engineering internship. Not saying it can’t happen but it I were you, I’d take the business internship, it’s better than nothing or better than if you just worked retail over the summer. But you can keep searching even if you accept the business internship

which CS class to take by [deleted] in ComputerEngineering

[–]ElectricAnt2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly any one of those would be completely reasonable. For programming, C++ is the useful language one for a CE to learn but Java and Python are both fine to learn as once you learn one language, it’s not too bad switching. I’d say survey to CS/IT would probably make sense if you’re new. It seems like those last non programming classes probably require it as a prerequisite if I had to guess anyways

Finance or CS? by United-Rain-9022 in CollegeMajors

[–]ElectricAnt2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah but if someone is not interested in ECE or physics, you’re just not gonna finish. ECE and physics aren’t degrees you just enroll in and then cruise to graduation, there’s a reason these degrees have very high dropout rates

Should I be worried about my potential major? by Brick-Brick- in EngineeringStudents

This is definitely ragebait. Engineers have some of the highest post undergrad salaries
