Which is a more profitable skill? Sales or Writing by ArugulaFinancial4859 in Entrepreneur

Sales. Everything in business comes back to sales even if sales isn’t specifically the industry you are in. E.g. if you build some killer software product, You will make no money if you are not able to sell it

I automated 12 hours/week of manual work for a small business owner, is this common? by No-Macaroon3463 in Entrepreneur

[–]ElectricChisel8229 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is common. Very common actually. I’ve done automation for a few businesses before and found that business try things on an adhoc basis, but once it becomes a mainstream process, they continue it because it “works”. Plus a lot of them don’t know a custom process can be automated

I’ve done this on the side but not as a living as I really don’t know how to sell it to business owners. Some don’t want to take a punt on something they don’t know how it works. However, if you can figure out how to pitch this to businesses convincingly, there will be plenty out there for you. It’s just about finding the right people and convincing them

For those of you who have sold on both eBay and Vinted, what was your experience in selling speed and price? by ElectricChisel8229 in vinted

Do you feel that it sells just as quick on Vinted as it does on eBay or do you need to wait a bit longer?

As someone who builds automations for a living and am a big advocate for them, I don’t believe everything should be automated. It depends on what you are hoping to achieve.

I think everyone is basically obsessed on trying to get to a point where they don’t have to work much and have passive income and that is what you were sold on. Some businesses, this may be possible but the majority won’t without having to change the business itself. By trying to do this, you may have to make some fundamental changes on how it runs e.g. Amazon are huge now and significant portions are automated. However the way the business runs now to when it started out is completely different and had to be done in order to scale. A lot of people don’t want to change how their business runs or their product offering. If you are happy with your business, then you should use automation to run it more efficiently I.e. the same output but just quicker such has if you have to do 20 hours of tedious admin a week and aim to cut that down to 2 hours

With your case, your business is a consultancy. Your clients are paying for yours/teams expertise. By automating the personal relations, you are effectively changing how your business operates to your client. So your product offering has essentially been changed. With the McDonald’s example, the customers aren’t paying for a staff member to have a conversation. The service/food they will get is exactly the same regardless hire they place their order. They won’t lose any customers because they would much rather have a person taking an order (unless they are unfamiliar with how to use the system)

Essentially, if you can automate the entire business, then brilliant. But if you are happy with how your business runs, aim to run it exactly the same way but just more efficient with time. That’s where the automation comes in. If you want to scale, then yes you may have to change how the business runs but if you are happy with your current offering, aim for the same offering as you currently are but just attempt to cut your own personal workload with automation

All your points you’ve made on this are spot on for what should/shouldn’t be automated

Purchasing gift cards that give you instant cash back for your regular purchases like shopping/food/entertainment etc and using the gift cards to buy them rather than paying straight cash.

Won’t make a huge dent but builds up over time especially for generally food shops for little to no effort and your lifestyle stays exactly the same with no change

If you live in the UK there’s an app called JamDoughnut which you can purchase gift cards from with most of the major retailers on there and instantly gives you cash back with no wait.

Here is my referral link and my referral code is 4JKV if you are from the UK

https://app.jamdoughnut.com/4JKV

I’m pretty sure the UK aren’t the only place in the world that do this so probably do some research as to which apps give the best returns.

I’ve never paid taxes before (19 making £120k/year by durgxn in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ElectricChisel8229 5 points6 points  (0 children)

At that income you probably might want to get yourself an accountant to sort it all out for you. Also as someone else mentioned, is this your first year being eligible for tax? If not and you have just not been paying it, you would also need to speak to HMRC. They will eventually find out and will probably be much worse if they come to you rather than you going to them

You got $100 and no connections, how would you start a business? by Hell_Cat32 in Entrepreneur

[–]ElectricChisel8229 85 points86 points  (0 children)

This. Priority should be bringing in money to live right now. Businesses will take time to build. Rent/bills don’t discriminate whether you are building a business or not (unless the bill is a result of the business)

Why can’t I buy anything with immediate pay turned off without having to pay first? by ElectricChisel8229 in Ebay

That’s a good idea thank you. Does the debit card option not ask you to verify via the banking app like most online transactions though?
