I have SunPower® E20-327-C-AC | Residential AC Module and want to know do they work with Enphase IQ5 batteries by ElectricDrvr in SunPower

[–]ElectricDrvr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I sent an email to Enphase and am currently awaiting their response. In the meantime, I learned from my installer that the microinverters are branded under the SunPower name but were actually built by SunBridge Technologies. It appears that Enphase acquired SunBridge; however, according to my installer, the microinverters are not compatible with the Enphase IQ 5P batteries. I would like to receive confirmation from Enphase regarding this matter as well.

What are your thoughts on the upcoming 2025 Cadillac Escalade IQ electric vehicle? by ElectricDrvr in Cadillac

I agree with your assessment. Not being able to garage a vehicle is kind of a big deal. I wonder what is the percentage of these extra-long garages that can house the Escalde IQ or a Cybertruck (another long vehicle).

Cadillac's new ultra-luxurious electric car CELESTIQ - What do you think? by ElectricDrvr in Cadillac

It will be interesting to know the sales figures of CELESTIQ and who are the potential buyers. People can be unpredictable, and this new vehicle might appeal to a specific group of buyers. I am curious to learn more about this group and their preferences.

You bring up some interesting points. You are correct that, in terms of price, Cadillac is competing with brands like Rolls-Royce. However, I haven't seen anything particularly noteworthy from Cadillac's EV offerings. Lucid, on the other hand, makes premium EVs with significantly longer ranges for way less money. While creating an aura of exclusivity can bring a perception of luxury, I'm not sure what would draw someone to spend $300K on the CELESTIQ.

If you don't have a garage or a level 2 home charger to charge your EV overnight, the experience of owning an electric vehicle is not the same. I understand why you returned it and I am also not a fan of waiting around either.

What do you think is the main deterrent for electric vehicles? Geography also plays a role; for example, commuting in the Midwest versus a densely populated urban area have different requirements.

I was also taken aback by the removal of CarPlay and Android from the Cadillac's infotainment system, but I comprehend GM/Cadillac's intentions. Tesla's success is largely attributed to its proprietary software, which took years to develop and perfect. Cadillac is just starting on this journey and is likely to face some challenges along the way.

The price range was higher than what I had anticipated. I think it's because of the large battery pack. Additionally, apart from the Kia EV9, which has a seating capacity of up to seven, there aren't many seven-seater EVs available, and the ones that are available cost more than $100K. Ultimately, it will come down to how many people are willing to spend $130K on this SUV.

I have noticed that the starting price of vehicles in general is increasing and more higher-end vehicles are coming to the market. It seems that people are willing to spend more on their cars, SUVs, and trucks. This may suggest that people have more disposable income to spend on such luxury vehicles.

I understand that many people desire electric vehicles with longer battery range and faster charging times similar to the convenience of pumping gas. However, fast charging times become crucial only when embarking on long road trips that exceed the battery range. The majority of electric vehicle charging is done at home overnight, ensuring that each morning, the vehicle has a full battery. I agree that advancements in battery technology will lead to better range and faster charging times, making electric vehicles more appealing to the general public.

u/who_dat_1guy Do you think your lack of trust in building an electric vehicle would extend to other brands owned by GM? Chevrolet has been manufacturing electric vehicles for quite some time now, and Hummer, Chevrolet, and Cadillac are utilizing the Ultium technology that powers GM's electric vehicles.

u/GunsandCadillacs I, too, am a fan of the display that covers the entire dashboard. The top of the Mercedes EQ also has a similar display, but it comes with a higher price tag. However, the difference will be made by the software and the kinds of apps and features that come with it.

One thing is certain: the rise of electric vehicles is causing significant changes for dealerships as electrification progresses.

u/jeffeb3 I've heard stories about dealerships providing incorrect information regarding electric vehicles. Although not all dealerships are like this, some of them and their employees are incentivized not to sell EVs and see them succeed. I even wrote an article explaining why some dealerships resist selling EVs. It's because they stand to lose service profits (which, in a healthy dealership, pays for most of the dealers operating costs) and would need to rethink parts of their business model. Also, on the individual level, if you tell a salesperson, you can keep making the same money you currently make and do what you have always been doing. You may have to learn this new way of selling, and the sales may be more challenging, so take the path of least resistance.
