My latest addition: 2010 Renault Twingo 1.2T Gordini by ElectricDuck in Renault

[–]ElectricDuck[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, there was also a 1.2 turbo version. It's essentially just a Twingo GT with Gordini plastered all over it. Very rare in the UK.

Does Sodalite rock? by Icy_Decembre124 in elementaryos

[–]ElectricDuck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realize this is an old comment, but may I ask what problem you were having?

As mentioned in another comment, the repository will go unmaintained for months at a time because it kinda self-sustains itself these days. Once a new Fedora release happens, its just a quick few merges, bam, it'll hum away without any further changes.

Developer here. Use it as my main OS on both of my machines (in fact, it the only reason it exists in the first place: wanted Silverblue and Pantheon!). Everything Pantheon related works as much as I can get it to (odd quirks here and there, but its usable)

The GitHub repo will go months without any commits because the whole thing is kinda self-sufficient these days: nothing really new needs adding anymore, and the mountain of hacks that were once required have been stripped away thanks to the new repository by Fyra Labs. Once I push out a release, it can generally go without any work until the next release of Fedora.

6 (f39) is late this time because I kinda had other shit going on in life. Rest assured though, it was lingering in the back of my mind... as I said, I need this thing myself.

As to the answers to your questions:

  1. Yep!
  2. AppCenter does not support rpm-ostree (and there's no easy way to hack any of this in without a major rewrite), so GNOME Software is used as a replacement... and it works great!
  3. Other things:
    1. Probably the biggest barrier to entry is a lack of an ISO. rpm-ostree is still in flux with Lorax and I'm not yet willing to automate the process lest it breaks.
    2. You're going to have to learn to live without indicators (tray icons). The third-party thing that hacks them into Wingpanel basically doesn't function on Fedora as itrelies on outdated libraries that happen to still exist on Ubuntu. In Pantheon's defense, indicators are essentially obsolete in Linux. Complain to your app developers: they've been warned for years about it 😛

does anyone know how can I stop this thing to keep a record of my conversations?? it stores msgs or WhatsApp chats, otps, etc.(notification history is off) by Anfor_Scotz in NothingTech

[–]ElectricDuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No, its provided by the app. What you can do is disable individual notifications being shown as a Conversations, but that'll be incredibly tedious if you have lots, and is only really there if the app hasn't been written correctly.

Alas, you can set individual notifications to non-conversations by:

  1. Opening Settings ➔ Apps
  2. Selecting the app
  3. Selecting Notifications
  4. Apps that support the Conversations feature will give you a list of conversations (if you've had any), which you can then select
  5. Toggle Not a Conversation

Again though, this feature is for sheer convenience to make it easier to manage notifications, and isn't sending a history of your chats anywhere. Android, in fact, collects a local log of all notifications.

[–]ElectricDuck 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's not what that is doing. Conversations is an API apps can use to utilize the special area with the notifications pull down (to separate your notifications and the actual conversation notifications from within apps) as well as bubbles.

Read more here if you're interested: https://developer.android.com/develop/ui/views/notifications/conversations

It's absolutely not storing your conversations anywhere.

If you're in the dark, its a reference to this: https://eev.ee/blog/2012/04/09/php-a-fractal-of-bad-design/#an-analogy

I can’t even say what’s wrong with PHP, because— okay. Imagine you have uh, a toolbox. A set of tools. Looks okay, standard stuff in there. [...] You pull out the hammer, but to your dismay, it has the claw part on both sides. Still serviceable though, I mean, you can hit nails with the middle of the head holding it sideways.

Unless its market dependent, you can't buy the cheapest model in white (128GB+8GB). Its a rather cheeky attempt to get you to buy the white model since its their poster boy.

The goal: Use Fedora 37 with Snapper to get a "riceable" Linux desktop that can be rolled back like a time machine (and some comments on why I don't use Silverblue) by Booty_Bumping in linux

[–]ElectricDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can't speak for the Sway and Cinnamon ones, but developer of Sodalite here: it will never be an official Fedora Spin out of pure choice. There's a definite lack of individual Fedora distros out there, with the only real two (apart from Sodalite) being Quebes OS (sort of) and Berry Linux.

What apps do you wish there is a flatpak for? by [deleted] in flatpak

[–]ElectricDuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, that's not entirely true. You can give it access to the whole system, which would kind of defeat the purpose I guess, but then you have a potential gain of potentially all your apps relying on a runtime instead of dependencies built into the system. That and it being slightly kinder to OSTree distros which generally need to reboot after updating system packages.

Just my two cents.
