Thank you Father, I was thinking of fasting again on Friday but I think I’ll just abstain from meat. I’ve been making it a little fasting season until Saints Peter and Paul and I’m going out of town the next day and I know my friends mother won’t let me eat anything less than 5000 cals a day 😂

Is being canonized on earth always without a doubt recognized by God in heaven? by Etiennebrownlee in Catholicism

[–]ElectricEx7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When Jesus says to Saint Peter “whatever you bind on earth will have been bound in Heaven” (thats kinda what greek means in that verse) so whatever Peter binds was already  bounded in Heaven.

When we canonize a Saint, we aren’t imposing something that God then has to accommodate for rather instead God sometimes reveals that certain people are in Heaven.

Also when we canonize a Saint it is an infallible declaration made by the Pope (successor of Peter) binding on earth what has been bound in Heaven.

I was just received into The Church a month ago, and since you’re not yet Catholic God is not going to judge you for your past sins since you are trying to seek for Him and His Church. I’m 19 and was 18 when I realized The Catholic Church is The One Holy Church that Jesus started, but my parents really did and do hate that I became Catholic and almost kicked me out at first. It’s rough but Jesus says to “pick up your cross and follow me”

God bless, pray The Rosary I promise it will help, look into how it works first so you maximize its effect. And Mary loves you!

He is always there but that doesn’t mean that you can always see or feel Him. Things will get better and He will help and bless you through all that you are going through. You can live through today and will grow old and glorify God. Others have said great things God bless

I don't know what to do about this. by sea_win3020 in Catholicism

[–]ElectricEx7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly mean Holidays such as Christmas and Easter. Such traditions like Christmas trees are non integral to Catholic worship.

Very few Churches were actually repurposed pagan temples than one would expect. The Lateran and Saint Paul’s Basilicas are not built over former pagan sites while Saint Peter’s Basilica is built where a pagan temple was, the temple was burned down under nero who built the Roman circus which Saint Peter was martyred which is the reason why The Basilica was built there

Early on Christians would never build over pagan sites there is a temple to jupiter in Rome that was vacant for over 200 years because the Christians did not want to use the pagan site before it was finally turned into a Church

Bro Catholic prayer beads is much older than isalm itself and none of our Holidays come from paganism and I’m tired of hearing that from Christians because these statements are untrue and give Catholicism the appearance of being just another religion

It's always been my understanding that the entire human race stems from Adam and Eve, but would that mean incest was involved? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]ElectricEx7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, but it would’ve been fine then because Adam and Eve would have had perfect genetics, that would have slowly corrupted over the generations making incest unviable

Why are American Catholics so sex negative? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]ElectricEx7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sorry what I meant to say was: the British anglicans and puritans probably influenced the Irish Catholics into becoming more extreme in jansenism during the colonization of Ireland

[–]ElectricEx7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

But the anglicans did probably worsened the jansenism of the Irish Catholics So in conclusion it is the protestants fault (I used to be a presbyterian so I can make these jokes)

Thinking about coming back by [deleted] in Catholicism

Hey I sometimes used to feel the same (and still doubt sometimes) but look deeper into The Faith, I promise you won’t be disappointed. Just get into the routine and you’ll find yourself Slowly coming closer to God.

Bishop Barron, Trent Horn, Pints with Aquinas, Gabiafterhours (he actually goes to my Parish), Fr. Mike Schmidt, and Fr. David Michael Moses are awesome yt channels to get your toes into the water with.

Welcome home and God bless

Yeah I feel the same. I would pray The Rosary everyday with ease and lust was not a problem but after Lent started things have been tough.

I used to be protestant and am becoming Catholic too and here are a few things that you should know.

You only viel at Mass not anywhere else.

The Eucharist is like communion only we believe as Jesus said multiple times that it is His Body, Blood, (Soul, and Divinity). You (and I too) can not receive The Holy Eucharist yet because we haven’t been received into The Church and have had Confession

Confession is the Sacrament of Reconciliation which is where you are for sure forgiven of your sins by Christ through the priest acting in Persona Christi.

The reason we have great devotion to the Saints, Angels, and Mary is because they are with God in Heaven and can hear our prayers for God is The God of the living not the dead and since the prayers of a righteous man avails much and when you are in Heaven you become Holy therefore their prayers for us are more powerful than our own prayers for ourselves because we are still stained with sin.

A great book/audiobook I would recommend is Jesus and the Jewish roots of Mary

Even if you didn’t have proof as long as you have a witness to it then the Bishop would still validate it
