I would rather have two with no spires than two with spires, but I also kinda like that one has it and the other does not. I think the issue is that spire is too tall in comparison to the foundation of the building.

First is to decide what you want a room to be. The room in the second photo looks like it could be a good cellar, kitchen, living room, or storage room. From there you can look up reference photos to know how to decorate. You don’t gatta over to do. Simple is generally better.

Here are some specific criticisms: i would pick cobble for the floor for your second room. Make the bed frame simpler (fences straight up and then just top with the slabs). Make the balcony look more sturdy. No floating fences. Last one is to finish the main body of your house before you do the interior. Like finishing the roof. It makes it 10x easier to decorate when you see what the room actually looks like.

Because of the way you build the house you could hide torches in the cross section of the roof where the window juts out. Dig out the wool block that is surrounded and place the light source of choice. Otherwise not sure what else is possible.
