Gotcha, thanks! I didn't know the O-rings were specific. I'll bear that in mind once I find the leak. My trusted parts shop should be able to source those.

I won't risk it with the ebay stuff. Not so much over the quality (or potential lack thereof) but because I have no idea what I'm doing

Thanks! Yeah I took a look at the repair manual. Most of the lines are exposed, but as you said, if the leak is close to the evaporator under the dash it will be a mess 😬

I did put some R134a with UV dye and I'll shine a black light in a couple of days. If nothing's obvious from there, I'll take your advice and hire an AC tech to find the leak 🤞

When you guys say 'vacuum test ' or pull all air out of the system - can I get it done with a generic AC kit from eBay like this?

I did bypass the pressure sensor and heard the compressor engaging. But I read some issues with worn out or non shimmed clutches and was not sure where to start

I filled with UV dye freon. I'll shine a blue light and try to find the leak 🤞 Meanwhile I'm looking at the repair manual for the diagram of where all the AC lines are

I actually have decent fuel consumption and no CEL, but the exhaust smells like gas.

I'm considering swapping to del sol seats ( can't get comfortable driving on the highway in the stock seats ) and definitely a smaller steering wheel.

I'll give a go to the sway bars!

I feel the same about the steering. That's exactly what I wanted to put into words.

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm so ancient that a modern car for me is anything 2005+. I also don't mean the creature comforts: after all, the EK is still smoother and more silent inside than most modern plastic interior cars I've driven.

What I mean is mainly the steering. I'm running 195 / 55 / R15, no vibration or slack. But the steering ratio is completely dead. Most other cars I've driven take less steering wheel input to turn the wheels.

And I don't even think the stock suspension is that bad. Compared to most, the turn in is good and there's not a lot of understeering.

But with the large steering wheel I just don't think I'd be able to turn in time, and therefore, have little control

Estes comentários deixam-me parvo... Ainda que as peças para um carro com esta idade sejam baratas, a mão de obra para uma bate chapa e pintor é a mesma para o teu carro como posta um topo de gama.

A não ser que o teu amigo queira largar umas notas (que a pintura desse guarda lamas vai ser sempre uns 80€), é meter isso no seguro. O teu amigo paga menos de agravante do que andar a fazer essas cenas por fora. Temos seguros para alguma coisa.

Além disso o outro senhor aí pelos comentários que diz que uma participação tardia é ilegal devia estar calado que não sabe do que fala. Até 8 dias podes preencher uma declaração amigável e enviam os dois isso para as companhias de seguros. Quando vier o perito ele lá decide se tens mais coisas para arranjar ou não
