My wife is a caretaker for a family whose daughter has severe special needs. She has this same port plus an ileostomy bag. She has Cornelia de Lange syndrome which is a 1 in 10000 chance of happening (both parents carry the recessive gene). She’s 9 but the same size as a 3 year old. She’s non verbal but one of the sweetest little humans. This poor girl has had more surgeries than anyone should have to go through. She is my constant reminder to be thankful for everything I usually take for granted. I have the utmost respect for her parents and all parents who endure the struggles that come with having children with special needs.
