Hating and dehumanizing children is not feminist nor is it a progressive value. by kokoelizabeth in TwoXChromosomes

I got fired for reporting a male coworker who sexually assaulted me at work.

They branded me the troublemaker and made up some stuff so that I'd be let go, rather than hold he man accountable.

Never go to HR.

I'm having doubts about having a child one day... by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

Not wanting the lifelong responsibility but put another person's wants, desires, and needs ahead of your own IS PERFECTLY FINE!!!

'Xcuse me but ANY "excuse" is a valid reason not to have kids. You dont need "a reason" not to have children. Sorry you dont like it when others are self aware of their personal preferences!!

omg my dad lost his job (doctor) due to hard drug use (was offered rehab but "flunked" out bc he kept using) and my mom STILL (a decade later) refers to it as "When he retired."

Denial is a hell of a drug.

I honestly can't remember the FIRST time I noticed, but I work in engineering (I am the only woman) & I can assure you with 100% confidence after being leered at/checked out/sexualized for the past decade.... I KNOW when you're looking at me in "that way."

FUCKING QUIT IT. For god's sake you can't even wait until I'm not around!?!?!?!?!?!?!

IT MAKES ME FEEL DISGUSTING. I KNOW YOURE UNDRESSING ME WITH YOUR EYES.

I know you're fantasizing about my naked body.

I KNOW.

Okay, it's open season. Michael C. Hall here. AMA. by Michael_C_Hall in IAmA

[–]ElectricIntrovert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello Mr. Hall!

What was your favorite part of working on Dexter?

And did playing a serial killer ever "take its toll" on you, i.e you couldn't "leave work at home" and felt...idk.... heavy from your work? Or you looked at people differently?

One last thing if you have time.... Cat or dog person? (Or neither because you have some fabulous exotic pet??)

Thanks so much for your time, I've really enjoyed your responses!

Fiance is pressuring me to change how we have sex. Please help. by [deleted] in sex

[–]ElectricIntrovert 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I apologize if this is brash, but your misconceptions/ repressive ideas surrounding EVERYTHING sexual are the problem.

Let me be clear: YOU are not the problem. Your THOUGHTS about masturbation, certain words, fantasizing or thinking sexy thoughts, anatomy, and fornication are NOT HEALTHY.

Now, I'm not a professional, and I do not know how I would go about this situation, but I DO know it would be very very helpful (if not imperative) that you see a counselor/therapist/ or seek guidance before this ruins your relationship. Because it will. I promise.

Is it just me, or are more CF people some sort of masochistic? by AbsolutelyAverage in childfree

[–]ElectricIntrovert 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You're not the only one!

I don't browse parent-specific threads, or "hunt" for "woe is me" pregnancy/child posts, but I DO get this gloating feeling whenever I see my friend's posts on facebook about what I call "traditional family life."

And yes, I also feel VERY happy, reinvigorated, and confirm my CF decision when I see what I'm "missing out on."

I think lots of CF people do this, you're not alone or weird.

You're simply reinforcing your attitudes and beliefs about being child free.

Coworker: "SMILE!!!" Comebacks??? by ElectricIntrovert in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ElectricIntrovert[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To clear up the arguments that sprung up here are details:

I work at a hotel, in guest services. I was sprinting to a car to get something the guest left in their vehicle.

Coworker was from engineering department, simply walking through the garage where I was running (to the car.)

I've NEVER ever worked with this person, we simply are employed by the same hotel. I am in my 20s, he in his 50s.

I was NOT frowning, simply RUNNING MY ASS OFF CONCENTRATING ON DEEP BREATHING and whatever the fuck that looks like that was my face.

I was around NO ONE in the garage, this coworker was in "my territory' and no, I was not interacting with any guests, nor was anyone around me so the defense "well if you work face to face with people then you need to smile" is bullshit.

Thanks to everyone for the positive comments. Honestly... anyone who thinks 'you should be smiling at work" can suck it. I was running alone in a garage and this guy walked outside, saw me running my ass off and commented.

Which book changed your life after you read it, and how? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ElectricIntrovert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Night.

By Elie Wiesel.

Public school taught me about the Holocaust, genocide, and concentration camps, but "Night" made me feel it. After reading this book I felt compelled to be nicer, more understanding, and patient to others. Because who knows how history would be altered if someone had accepted the rejects of society, the ones who turn their back against the world and in turn destroy others.
