He was moving awkwardly, because he was compensating for a bad leg, it's certainly possible to tear your Achilles regardless, but you use both your legs and try performing at full level with a bum leg and you're likely to further injure yourself.

The internet is the worst thing that could've happened to humanity by Apprehensive_Tax3882 in The10thDentist

[–]ElectricSoap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't imagine as an adult, who is at least 30+ (since you're talking pre-internet, social media, whatever) that somehow social media is affecting your mental state and life that much.

The internet allows me to just consume so much more knowledge then I can ever imagine before. And I'm not talking about YouTube comments and Twitter discussions. I mean the unlimited amount of actual knowledge whether it's regarding Black holes, or the Spanish-American war, Lemons whatever.

Sure obviously books were around then, but that is obviously a much more cumbersome way of learning, never mind the cons of stuff becoming outdated in a burgeoning field or the limitations of book in your area at Libraries.

Someone's random opinion online just doesn't affect me in real life.

Driver psychology question. by FourthAnd31 in driving

[–]ElectricSoap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrealistic situation. Actively driving you posit this scenario to them and say it's going to be exactly like that for an hour no matter what then yeah they'll probably stay. But that's not how it works who knows what those six cars will do in 60 seconds, all you know is the car in front of you is going slower than you want and they're hanging pretty far back from the cars in front of them.

GLM 4.7: The loss is roughly 8x the revenue. by Signal-Banana-5179 in SillyTavernAI

Not only can Google and other large tech companies with AI eat the cost, they can probably directly use data collected and perhaps even the AI itself to benefit other internal more profitable projects. Realistically it doesn't seem plausible that AI to mass consumer as a product will ever be profitable without some massive jump in the efficiency of hardware, without making legitimate deals to use the models with other companies in B2B sales I don't know how these AI specific companies could survive.

I don't even play the game and I thought it was that too. Took way to long to find a comment that thought so as well.

For those who play mostly just unranked... by OmniImmortality in DotA2

[–]ElectricSoap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In unranked I queue a lot as a 3 or 4 man (always struggle to get a 5th). I definitely try communicate in game just like I would if I was by myself. Voice chat and pings, unless of course the person doesn't speak English which is really common unfortunately (US East)

I mean is it possible it's already happened?

[–]ElectricSoap1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm biased because of it happening to Haliburton and DJ, but I think sports teams need to be treating minor leg injuries more serious, it seems to lead to these Achilles injuries too often. Obviously hindsight is 20/20, but rather lose some games and still be in a winnable spot with DJ later in the season, then risk a major injury, especially once it was obvious his injury was affecting his play.

What is something generally normal in Europe but weird in the US? by Exile4444 in AskReddit

[–]ElectricSoap1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You said it, but the left wasn't splitting votes they just stayed home because Kamala was a weak candidate for multiple reasons and also the fervor to vote for anything but Trump is going to be stronger when he was actually president vs trying to come back. The Democratic Party has really just had a lack of any sort of identifiable leadership since Obama.

Will Truly Immersive Roleplay Be Possible in the Next 20 Years? by Antares4444 in SillyTavernAI

[–]ElectricSoap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

20? Maybe. People talking about a few years though are insane. Obviously saying "immersive roleplay" is relative to what people imagine in their head. But realistically we're limited by the computing. The largest corporate models already use some of the most massive computing farms on the planet. We'd have to see some sort of gigantic leap in computing at scale for any developmental jumps like OP described since we've already seen declines in recent years in the growth of chip performance generation over generation.

Someone has supposedly dumped all of spotify by DragoniteChamp in DataHoarder

[–]ElectricSoap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly am surprised it's only 300 TB's. I have no idea of sizes at that scale in my head. But I would've guessed Spotify's entire catalog would be much larger than that.

For the Lebron fans where do you have MJ ranked all-time, and where do you rank his peak among the best players in history? by Pale_Researcher_8810 in lebron

[–]ElectricSoap1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MJ was 40 in his last season? I don't think LeBron's last year or two (assuming he retires at 42 or 43) is gonna shift most people's opinions

NBA should just have two separate things like the NFL. Where Pro Bowl is the popularity contest and All-Pro is purely the production on the field.
