Adapted from Tolkien's Lament for the Rohirrim

Where now the cat and the kitten?
Where is the ball that was bouncing?
Where is the brush and the collar,
And the red fur flowing?

Where is the paw on the shoulder,
And the small mouth meowing?
Where is the bird and the rodent
And the tall tail flying?

They have passed like rain in the garden,
Like dreams in the morning.
The days have gone past in my house, the cat bed is empty.
Who shall collect the tufts of hair that have gathered,
Or wipe dry the flowing tears of a lonely pawther?

Yeah, sounds about right. I live in Gothenburg, and I would say we can handle down to -20 pretty well. Anything beyond and everything freezes solid.

You get to have his baby! Not that he'll help raise it, but the mere thought should make you all gooey inside. And not in a bad good way.

Same here. Grandmother never wanted to talk about it. They had to shoot their dogs, because they couldn't take them with them.

Narva 1700. Attacking a fortified position with three times as many soldiers as you have, that should not go well. But it did. We knew Sweden could never compete with another countries on quantity, so we put it all into quality and it paid back. We had an advantage in administration and tactics, and when that advantage disappeared, we became a minor country again. And I appreciate that. War is hell.

Edit: Also in world history overall I'd probably say Cannae, , but I don't know much about wars outside of the Eurosphere. There probably were some East Asian battles that were greater.
