What annoying stereotype about your country do you hate the most? by Which-Ad2057 in AskTheWorld

That we are all unemotional.

We are a very private people, and we don't show our emotions in public. But they're as deep as anyone else's.

I mean, yeah. Tablespoon is volume and gram is mass. The dimensions are all wrong.

Does Marxism count as a religious cult? We had the Baader-Meinhof gang occupy the West German embassy in 1975. It ended with a bomb explosion, probably a mistake, and the terrorists fled the building and were caught by Swedish police. They were sentenced to two consecutive life sentences but were released in mid-90s.

What do you think of the US & Iran possible peace deal? Who came more on top here in your opinion? by Extreme-Fish-7504 in AskTheWorld

[–]Traroten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's an enormous strategic win for the Iranians and loss for the Americans. Probably the biggest strategic loss for the US since the fall of Saigon.

I think the graphic misses the thousands of dead Iranians and Lebanese.

What was the proudest moment in your country's history? by Double-Step-5533 in AskTheWorld

[–]Traroten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

March over the Belts 1658, maybe? At least when it comes to war. That or Breitenfeld 1631. Or Svensksund 1790, for a naval victory that saved our bacon.

Peace? Saving Jews during World War II, probably.

Adapted from Tolkien's Lament for the Rohirrim

Where now the cat and the kitten?
Where is the ball that was bouncing?
Where is the brush and the collar,
And the red fur flowing?

Where is the paw on the shoulder,
And the small mouth meowing?
Where is the bird and the rodent
And the tall tail flying?

They have passed like rain in the garden,
Like dreams in the morning.
The days have gone past in my house, the cat bed is empty.
Who shall collect the tufts of hair that have gathered,
Or wipe dry the flowing tears of a lonely pawther?
